Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our team at Savvy Smiles Family Dental in Amelia, OH. As an EFDA, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional dental care to our patients. Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including fillings, crowns, and extractions, ensuring efficient and smooth patient flow.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and arranging dental instruments and equipment.
- Take and develop dental x-rays as directed by the dentist.
- Provide oral hygiene instructions to patients and educate them on proper dental care techniques.
- Perform dental charting, record medical and dental histories, and maintain accurate patient records.
- Assist with the administration of local anesthesia and other dental medications, as authorized by the dentist.
- Conduct preliminary examinations and assessments, including taking vital signs and updating medical histories.
- Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during procedures, including suctioning and passing instruments.
- Perform laboratory tasks such as pouring and trimming models, fabricating temporary crowns, and taking impressions.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
- Assist in the scheduling and coordination of patient appointments, ensuring optimal use of dental resources.
- Stay updated with current dental practices and techniques through regular continuing education and professional development.
Requirements:
- Valid EFDA certification from an accredited dental assisting program.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an EFDA or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and materials.
- Proficient in taking dental x-rays and maintaining accurate records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients and team members.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Familiarity with dental software and technology.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 34 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- No weekends
- No Fridays
