Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our team at Savvy Smiles Family Dental in Amelia, OH. As an EFDA, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional dental care to our patients. Responsibilities:

• Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including fillings, crowns, and extractions, ensuring efficient and smooth patient flow.
• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and arranging dental instruments and equipment.
• Take and develop dental x-rays as directed by the dentist.
• Provide oral hygiene instructions to patients and educate them on proper dental care techniques.
• Perform dental charting, record medical and dental histories, and maintain accurate patient records.
• Assist with the administration of local anesthesia and other dental medications, as authorized by the dentist.
• Conduct preliminary examinations and assessments, including taking vital signs and updating medical histories.
• Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during procedures, including suctioning and passing instruments.
• Perform laboratory tasks such as pouring and trimming models, fabricating temporary crowns, and taking impressions.
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
• Assist in the scheduling and coordination of patient appointments, ensuring optimal use of dental resources.
• Stay updated with current dental practices and techniques through regular continuing education and professional development.

Requirements:

• Valid EFDA certification from an accredited dental assisting program.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an EFDA or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and materials.
• Proficient in taking dental x-rays and maintaining accurate records.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients and team members.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
• Familiarity with dental software and technology.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 34 per week

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• No weekends
• No Fridays
