Position: Psychologist – Autism Diagnostics

Location: Windsor Mill, MD

About Us

Sankofa Behavioral Health is a mental health practice providing culturally responsive, play-based services to children and families. Our clinic integrates Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), mental health counseling, and naturalistic interventions to support neurodiverse learners and their families.

We are seeking a licensed psychologist to join our team and lead diagnostic assessments for children and adolescents.

Role Overview

The Psychologist will provide high-quality diagnostic evaluations, with a focus on culturally responsive and family-centered practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive autism spectrum disorder (ASD) evaluations, including clinical interviews, behavioral observations, and standardized assessments (e.g., ADOS-2, DP-4, BASC-3, BRIEF-2, cognitive/developmental tests).
  • Generate diagnostic reports that are clear, family-friendly, and actionable for treatment planning.
  • Provide feedback to caregivers, including education and next steps for therapy, school supports, and community resources.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with licensing, ethical, and insurance standards.
  • Optionally, provide psychological consultations or therapy services aligned with your interests and expertise.

Qualifications

  • PhD or PsyD in Psychology (required).
  • Licensed or license-eligible in the state of MD.
  • Experience conducting autism evaluations with children and/or adolescents.
  • Familiarity with ADOS-2 and other gold-standard assessment tools.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive care and supporting underserved or marginalized communities.
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative spirit.

Preferred Skills

  • Interest in interdisciplinary work and family-centered care.
  • Comfortable supporting families through both clinical and practical aspects of receiving an autism diagnosis.
