Description

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with our Application, Data, and IT teams to provide support on the underlying needs of our technology – security, monitoring, automation, scaling.


  • Help ensure the reliability of our systems and infrastructure by understanding their design, constraints (especially as we scale!), edge cases, and failure states.


  • Help automate away development toil, from standing up and tearing down staging environments to maturing our build and deployment pipelines.


  • Help setup monitoring and alerting on our system’s health.


  • Help build and maintain our incident response and remediation playbooks.


  • Contribute to building and maintaining the infrastructure our applications rely on, providing pathways to improve their reliability and observability through logging and metrics.

  • Technical ExcellenceYou know that expertise in technology is a journey, not a destination. You know industry best-practices, and you’re learning how they change over time. You build on your hands-on experience by learning how and where the field is advancing. AWS experience is a must and DataDog, NewRelic APM, and Sentry.io experience is a plus!


  • Strong knowledge of continuous integration and deployment using industry standard tooling


  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems


  • Strong knowledge of containerization, including Kubernetes and Docker platforms


  • Solid experience and comfort with generalized programming and scripting languages and frameworks


  • Solid understanding of relational and time series databases


  • Solid understanding of public cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Google Cloud, etc.


  • Solid understanding of network concepts (switches, firewalls, load balancers, intrusion detection)


  • Solid understanding of logging, monitoring, and alerting tools


  • Experience with SDLC processes


  • Git source control
