The Direct Care Advocate oversees the care, supervision, and operations of Samaritan Village Inc. residential restorative safe house. Overnights, weekends, and holidays are required, as assigned. Shift hours are: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm, 3:00pm-11:00pm, 11:00pm-7:00am. Saturday & Sunday: 7:00am-7:00pm, 7:00pm-7:00am This position must provide a supportive environment in collaboration with trauma-informed, educational, and life skills to meet organizational and individual participant goals. This role must maintain the security and confidentiality needed for this specialized program. The Direct Care Advocate would work with a team of other staff members who report to the Program Manager. The Direct Care Advocate must feel comfortable intervening in conflict or crisis situations and is responsible for maintaining documentation and ensuring the smooth operation of the restorative safe house during assigned hours.

Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Uphold house structure; supervise residents' schedules set by program leaders and participate in activities to help with recovery/transition plans.
  • Model a strength-based approach with participant, staff, and volunteer interaction by providing practical, spiritual, and moral guidance.
  • Lead participant enrichment activities and teach daily life and living skills, including personal hygiene, laundry, and cleaning.
  • Follow and ensure residents adhere to all program policies, procedures, and guidelines; administer and support consequences when necessary.
  • Safely transport participants to appointments and activities in organization vehicles and assist with vehicle maintenance and safety.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to support residents’ adherence to case plan, phase development, and goals; 
  • Complete and document house checks and room checks for participants.
  • In conjunction with the SVI Treatment Team, facilitates the orientation of new residents into the home.
  • Ensure facility and security excellence by participating in safety planning and drills. Reports any issues of the safety, security, or physical environment of the house to the Program Manager for correction, including security cameras, locks, electric, water, heating, air conditioning, telephone, internet, TV, and the pool area issues
  • Assists in coordinating extracurricular activities and appointments
  • Acts as liaison with medical and dental appointments; reports scheduled appointments and updates to the Program Manager
  • Support proper medication oversight, including administering random drug screens and following medication protocol to document the medication use of participants 
  • Perform administrative functions, such as completing accurate and detailed incident reports, documented daily shift logs, room check sheets, medication logs, and etc.
  • Maintain flexibility when possible to address coverage or other emergencies.
  • Interacts daily with the Program Manager, staff, and volunteers to ensure a seamless shift transition, consistency in structure, and enforcement of rules.
  • Attends all staff meetings, training, and retreats; meets with the Program Manager for regularly scheduled updates and progress reports.
  • Provide care to program participants without regard to race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religious or spiritual beliefs. 
  • Provide care that is culturally competent for participants.

Education and Experience

  • Administrative and computer proficiency, including use of search engines, email, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High school or GED; higher education in social work, human services, counseling, or related field a plus
  • Minimum of one years’ experience working with issues relating to substance abuse and sexual exploitation
  • Must pass criminal background checks 
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and proper insurance
  • Maintain current First Aid / CPR certification
  • Documentation of references (at least two professional and one personal) that attest to the person’s capability of performing the duties of the position and to the person’s suitability of working with or around vulnerable populations

Salary

$15 - $16.5 per hour
