Join Sage Veterinary Imaging, North America's premier cross-sectional and neurologic imaging specialists. As a Veterinary Technician III – Advanced Imaging (Ultrasound Focus), you'll combine advanced ultrasound expertise with hands-on patient care in a collaborative specialty imaging environment.

Ultrasound is your primary clinical focus. You'll independently perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations while serving as a clinical resource for the imaging team. This blended role offers the opportunity to practice advanced sonography every day while mentoring fellow technicians, advancing imaging protocols, and supporting the highest standards of specialty diagnostic imaging.

Working alongside board-certified radiologists, residents, interns, and experienced imaging professionals, you'll help deliver exceptional patient care while practicing advanced diagnostic ultrasound in an environment designed for precision, collaboration, education, and clinical excellence.


Primary Responsibilities: Advanced Diagnostic Ultrasound

  • Independently perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, thoracic, cervical, musculoskeletal, and other specialty imaging studies.
  • Acquire complete, diagnostic-quality images for interpretation by board-certified radiologists.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to optimize image quality and ensure complete diagnostic examinations.
  • Recognize opportunities for additional imaging views while maintaining established imaging protocols.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal performance and image quality.
  • Lead ultrasound quality assurance initiatives and contribute to protocol development and continuous clinical improvement.
  • Serve as the hospital's clinical resource for ultrasound imaging, image acquisition techniques, and best practices.

Secondary Responsibilities: Veterinary Technician III

When not directly performing ultrasound examinations, you'll function as a Veterinary Technician III by:

  • Supporting MRI, CT, ultrasound, radiography, and other advanced imaging workflows.
  • Preparing patients for imaging procedures, including venipuncture, catheter placement, laboratory sample collection, and nursing care.
  • Assisting with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery for advanced imaging procedures.
  • Monitoring hospitalized patients and supporting recovery.
  • Maintaining imaging suites, ultrasound equipment, and procedural readiness.
  • Supporting efficient patient flow and daily hospital operations.
  • Collaborating with veterinarians, technicians, and client care teams to deliver an exceptional referral experience.
  • Providing mentorship and clinical guidance to Veterinary Technician I and II team members.

Qualifications

Required

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT/LVMT).
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive veterinary ultrasound experience or equivalent specialty imaging experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in diagnostic ultrasound image acquisition across a variety of small animal applications.
  • Strong understanding of ultrasound anatomy, imaging principles, and optimization techniques.
  • Advanced veterinary nursing skills and patient care experience.
  • Ability to mentor fellow technicians and support clinical education.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to image quality, patient safety, teamwork, and clinical excellence.

Preferred

  • Specialty or referral hospital experience.
  • Advanced ultrasound training, sonography certification, or equivalent advanced imaging education.
  • Experience developing ultrasound protocols or quality improvement initiatives.
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or leading technician training programs.
