A unique opportunity for an experienced veterinarian to lead a highly specialized practice focused exclusively on advanced diagnostic imaging.
As the senior clinical leader, you'll partner with the Hospital Manager and Executive Leadership Team to drive clinical excellence, develop high-performing teams, strengthen referral relationships, and support continued growth.
A key component of this role is mentoring and developing veterinary interns, helping shape the next generation of veterinary professionals through coaching, accountability, and professional development.
More About The Role
You will lead a highly skilled referral-based imaging team focused on delivering definitive diagnostic answers through advanced imaging technologies including 3T MRI, 128-slice CT, ultrasound, radiology, and same-day digital cytology.
Rather than managing appointment volume, wellness schedules, or emergency caseloads, your focus will be:
- Clinical excellence and medical quality

- Collaboration with board-certified radiologists/specialist and radiology residents
Clinical Leadership
The Hospital Director serves as the senior clinical leader of the practice and is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of medical quality and patient care.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensure the highest standards of medical quality, patient safety, and clinical excellence throughout the hospital.
- Provide leadership and oversight of imaging, anesthesia, and diagnostic protocols.
- Collaborate with veterinary radiologists and specialists to optimize patient outcomes and case quality.
- Establish and maintain clinical standards, best practices, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Partner with specialist quality program leaders, board-certified radiologists, and medical experts to advance quality assurance, protocol development, case review, and clinical excellence initiatives across Sage Veterinary Imaging.
- Serve as a mentor and clinical resource for veterinarians, interns, and support staff.
- Foster a culture of accountability, learning, collaboration, and evidence-based medicine.
- Support doctor recruitment, onboarding, and professional development.
- Lead clinical discussions, case reviews, and educational opportunities that elevate the standard of care.
Intern Leadership & Development
A key responsibility of this role is leadership and oversight of veterinary interns.
The Hospital Director will:
- Direct and oversee the clinical training and development of veterinary interns.
- Ensure interns receive structured mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Monitor clinical progression, medical decision-making, and professional growth.
- Foster a learning environment emphasizing excellence, curiosity, accountability, and confidence.
- Conduct regular evaluations and development planning.
- Partner with SVI leadership to strengthen internship programs and educational initiatives.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and evaluation of future intern candidates.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop veterinarians within the practice.
- Foster a collaborative, engaged, and high-performing hospital culture.
- Support professional growth and career development across the medical team.
- Promote Sage Veterinary Imaging's mission, vision, and values.
- Serve as a role model for professionalism, communication, and client service.
Strategic Growth & Referral Leadership
The Hospital Director partners with the Hospital Manager and Executive Leadership Team to support hospital growth, referral relationships, and long-term strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with the Hospital Manager and Executive Leadership Team to monitor hospital performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Provide clinical leadership and perspective regarding hospital initiatives, service offerings, and patient care delivery.
- Build and strengthen relationships with referring veterinarians and specialty partners.
- Represent Sage Veterinary Imaging within the veterinary community.
- Participate in outreach activities, educational events, and referral engagement initiatives.
- Assist with business development efforts, referral growth strategies, and market expansion opportunities.
- Support evaluation and implementation of new services, programs, and future site expansion initiatives.
- Help cultivate strategic partnerships that support long-term organizational growth.
- Serve as a clinical ambassador for the Sage Veterinary Imaging brand.

Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD).
- Eligible for or currently holding a Texas veterinary license.
- Strong foundation in patient care and efficient workflows.
- Minimum 5 years of clinical veterinary experience preferred.
- Previous leadership, mentorship, internship supervision, or medical director experience preferred.
- Strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable with technology (EzyVet, Slack, PACS systems a plus).
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence, mentorship, and professional development.
