Assistant Director of Operations
Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Operations reports to the Director and serves as a key operational leader responsible for supporting the strategic direction, operational performance, and growth of Sage Veterinary Imaging. This role provides leadership and oversight for teleradiology operations, practice site operations, organizational infrastructure, and strategic initiatives.
The Assistant Director of Operations partners closely with Practice Site Managers, Director, and organizational leadership to ensure operational consistency, efficient workflows, exceptional service delivery, and successful execution of organizational goals. This role translates strategic priorities into operational action while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Remote with ability to travel
Key Responsibilities
Teleradiology Operations
- Provide operational oversight for Sage Veterinary Imaging’s teleradiology services.
- Partner with the Director and other leadership to ensure efficient case flow, scheduling, coverage, turnaround times, and service quality.
- Support operational planning for radiologists, residents, interns, and associated telehealth personnel.
- Monitor operational performance metrics and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, scalability, and client experience.
- Collaborate with Clinical IT and leadership to support operational systems, technology platforms, and workflow optimization.
Practice Site Leadership
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to Practice Site Managers across all locations.
- Establish and maintain operational standards, workflows, and best practices.
- Partner with site leaders to improve team performance, patient flow, client experience, and operational effectiveness.
- Support leadership development, accountability, and succession planning within practice operations.
- Facilitate communication and alignment between practice sites and organizational leadership.
Operations Management
- Lead operational planning and execution across practice sites, teleradiology services, and organizational functions.
- Implement operational strategies that support growth, scalability, and service excellence.
- Oversee resource planning, including staffing models, workload distribution, operational capacity, equipment utilization, and organizational support resources.
- Develop, implement, and optimize operational processes, SOPs, and workflows.
- Ensure operational consistency, compliance, and process standardization across the organization.
- Collaborate with leadership to anticipate future operational needs and align resources with organizational priorities.
Strategic Initiatives & Project Leadership
- Lead cross-functional projects and organizational initiatives from planning through implementation.
- Support growth initiatives, new service lines, acquisitions, integrations, and expansion efforts.
- Monitor project progress, manage priorities, and ensure accountability for outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts that enhance operational performance and organizational effectiveness.
Performance & Business Operations
- Monitor operational and financial KPIs across practice sites and teleradiology operations.
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, labor planning, forecasting, and resource allocation.
- Utilize data and reporting to identify trends, opportunities, and operational risks.
- Support achievement of organizational, operational, and financial objectives.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Veterinary Practice Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in veterinary, healthcare, multi-site, or operational management environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading managers, operational teams, or multiple locations.
- Strong project management, process improvement, and organizational leadership skills.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel.
Preferred
- Veterinary specialty, referral, diagnostic imaging, telehealth, or healthcare operations experience.
- Experience with KPI management, budgeting, labor planning, and operational strategy.
- MBA, MHA, CVPM, CVOM, or other relevant leadership certification.
