Description

Job Overview

A core part of this role is building and delivering brand strategy as a new client service. Many clients come to us without a fully defined brand. The VP of Brand Marketing helps them identify who they are marketing to, why that audience should choose them, and what they are actually selling: not the literal service, but the solution it provides. That foundation then drives how each client shows up across every channel we manage.

The VP of Brand Marketing is a key leader in scaling brand marketing processes, mentoring team members, and maintaining direct client relationships to ensure growth alignment and platform expertise.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide direct management and mentorship to the social media manager, lifecycle marketing manager, and content team.
  • Hold accountability for SEO, paid, and GEO work assigned to the content team by those service line managers, ensuring it is completed on time and to standard. Templates, SOPs, and training for that work remain owned by the respective service line managers.
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and professional development for social media, lifecycle marketing, and content marketing roles.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture within the brand marketing team while ensuring alignment with agency-wide practices.

Brand Strategy

  • Build, define, and deliver RYTECH's brand strategy service: foundational marketing work sold to clients.
  • Identify and create brands for clients who don't have them fully written out, defining the who (target audience), the why (why that audience should choose the client), and the what (the solution the client is selling).
  • Translate brand strategy into clear direction for how each client's brand communicates with its target audience across channels.

Brand Marketing Oversight

  • Guide overall brand and marketing strategy for brand marketing clients, ensuring strategies are innovative, effective, and aligned with client objectives.
  • Oversee how client brands communicate with their target audiences across social, lifecycle, content, and web.
  • Own the success of organic social media, lifecycle marketing, and content marketing as service lines.
  • Oversee high-level operations of the social media, lifecycle marketing, and content teams, providing strategic direction and operational support.
  • Lead lifecycle marketing as a holistic approach to email that reaches audiences throughout their customer journey, not just through a recurring newsletter.
  • Contribute to client strategy development, particularly for brand marketing initiatives and organic content approaches.

Content Marketing & Brand Efficiency

  • Maximize both the effectiveness and efficiency of all brand content across web, social, email, and advertising channels.
  • Lead the development and optimization of organic brand content strategies, with particular emphasis on lifecycle marketing, social media, and web content.
  • Create and maintain templates, SOPs, and scalable processes for brand content creation to ensure consistency and quality across all deliverables.

Client Management & Project Oversight

  • Oversee brand marketing projects and retainer relationships, maintain direct client communication, and ensure project success.
  • Maintain a scaled client base (approximately 40% of time) to preserve hands-on familiarity with platforms, software, and current best practices being recommended to clients.
  • Ensure brand marketing deliverables meet client expectations.
  • Responsible for P&L of service lines under management + collaborates with the President on ways to hit utilization ratio goals.

VP of Brand Marketing Requirements

  • Proven experience managing brand marketing teams and operations in a digital agency environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing brand strategy, including audience definition, positioning, and messaging for clients without an established brand.
  • Strong strategic thinking, with a proven ability to develop and execute comprehensive brand, social media, and lifecycle/email marketing strategies.
  • Experience with content marketing operations, including template development and SOP creation for scalable content production.
  • Direct client management experience with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Hands-on expertise with social media platforms, email marketing tools, and content management systems (Sprout Social, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, HubSpot, Meta properties, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to balance strategic oversight and operational execution.
  • Collaborative leadership style with experience mentoring and developing marketing professionals.
  • Strong eye for brand consistency and content quality across multiple channels and platforms.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Fully Remote (residency in Illinois or Wisconsin required; in-person team meetings twice per quarter in Milwaukee or Chicago)
  • Salary commensurate with experience. Potential for bonus incentive.
  • Commission on upsells/cross-sells
  • Unlimited PTO with flexible scheduling
