Rural Power Systems Senior Technician Woodland, CA · Full time

We’re looking for a Senior Technician to join our Sun Titan off grid trailer and container team in Woodland, CA and help more people access clean, reliable power, wherever they need it most. Sun Titan is our off-grid power solution for government agencies, school districts, and organizations that can’t wait for the grid to show up. As our Senior Technician, you’ll be the technical backbone of the Sun Titan assembly floor, the person who takes on the builds nobody has done before, sets the standard for quality, and makes the whole team better through what you know and how freely you share it. If you’re the kind of person who finds deep satisfaction in figuring out the hard problems, writing it down so others can learn, and taking pride in work that holds up under pressure, you’ll feel right at home here.

About Rural Power Systems

At RPS, we’re solar-powered and people-powered! Every pump that leaves our warehouse means one less generator or power line—and cleaner, safer access to water. It supports healthier animals, plants, and people while boosting the resilience, independence, and self-sufficiency of rural families and communities.

We’re mission-driven, impact-focused, and yes—we’re as cool as it sounds. We help folks across the country pump water sustainably, from off-grid ranches to remote homesteads. We're a team of tinkerers, builders, customer champions, and adventurers who take pride in solving real-world problems with clean technology. No corporate fluff, just honest work that matters.

Description

Essential job duties:

  • Lead a team of Sun Titan assemblers day to day: assigning work, setting priorities, and making sure SOPs and work instructions are followed on every build.
  • Plan and organize daily production to meet the build schedule, balancing people, materials, and demand, and adjusting the plan when the unexpected happens.
  • Make floor level production decisions independently, escalating to the Sun Titan Manager for material shortages, budget decisions, or conflicts with other product lines.
  • Own quality on the floor: inspect your team’s work, give clear and constructive feedback, and stop a build when it doesn’t meet our standards.
  • Coach and develop your team, from onboarding and hands on training for new members to everyday feedback that helps everyone grow their skills.
  • Work hands on alongside the team, including leading custom and first of kind trailer and container builds that call for independent judgment and deep technical expertise.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues on complex or non-standard builds, escalating to engineering or product teams when needed and documenting resolutions so the solution lives beyond the moment.
  • Maintain and improve Sun Titan SOPs, work instructions, and technical documentation, translating complex builds into clear, repeatable processes the whole team can rely on.
  • Track production KPIs and use the data to spot recurring issues and drive improvements, bringing practical, well-reasoned recommendations to the Sun Titan Manager.
  • Inform the Sun Titan manager about planning, inventory, and procurement on material needs and workloads so builds stay on track.
  • High-five your teammates when another generator bites the dust.

What You Bring

You’re excited about work that directly impacts people’s lives and our planet. Whether you’re tech-savvy, customer-obsessed, mechanically inclined—or all three—you bring curiosity, team collaboration, and a strong sense of purpose to the table.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Have 5+ years of hands-on experience in trailer, container, electrical, or mechanical assembly or a related technical field where complex, custom builds were part of the job
  • Have 2+ years leading or supervising a team in a production, warehouse, or manufacturing environment
  • Are a steady, trusted leader who can run the floor independently. You plan the day, make the call, and keep the team focused and supported when your manager isn’t on site
  • Have deep familiarity with off-grid power systems, solar, electrical wiring, mechanics, or mobile power applications and can work comfortably from technical drawings, schematics, and specs
  • Have experience conducting quality inspections on mechanics and electronics. You have a sharp eye, give honest and constructive feedback, and hold the line on quality standards without making it personal
  • Are a natural coach. You share what you know freely, take real satisfaction in watching your team grow, and create an environment built on accountability and respect
  • Have written or significantly contributed to SOPs, work instructions, or technical documentation. You know what makes a procedure actually useful vs. one that collects dust
  • Are comfortable using production data and KPIs to track output and make better decisions
  • Are comfortable with ambiguity and custom work. Changing priorities and non-standard builds energize you rather than slow you down
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Are able to lift up to 50 lbs and work comfortably in a hands-on warehouse and assembly environment
  • Can troubleshoot creatively and think like a customer
  • Believe in rural resilience and clean technology
  • Want to be part of a team where mission isn’t a buzzword—it’s the reason
