Rumbao Latin Dance Company, founded by five Charlotte-based Latin dancers, is dedicated to delivering a unique blend of fun and technique in Salsa dancing. The company emphasizes both “Rumba,” representing the joy and social aspect of dancing, and “Tumbao,” the rhythmic beat central to salsa music. This is a part-time, on-site role for a Dance Instructor at Rumbao Latin Dance Company, based in Charlotte, NC. The instructor will lead engaging, dynamic salsa dance classes for individuals or groups, providing personalized feedback to students of all skill levels. They will be responsible for planning lessons, choreographing routines, preparing music selections, and promoting an inclusive and encouraging learning atmosphere. Additional responsibilities may include assisting in group rehearsals, supporting performance preparations, and representing the company at local events and social gatherings.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Salsa dance techniques and styles, including experience with On2 dancing
• Experience in creating choreography and teaching dance to groups or individuals
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster an engaging and inclusive environment
• Ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor students at different skill levels
• Experience in event performance or social dancing is a plus
• Prior teaching experience or dance certifications related to Salsa or Latin dance is highly desirable
• A passion for promoting Latin dance culture and community engagement
