Role Overview

We are seeking a mid-level Software Engineer with experience in Front End and Mobile App technologies. You'll get to build the products players, coaches and scouts use every day. That means building our iOS / Android app in addition to our web apps that enable recruiting and evaluation. You'll work closely with our backend engineers on API contracts and help build the shared component library and mobile platform every Rule42 product uses. This is a hands-on role on a small team with an exciting mission. You'll ship often, see your work in athletes' hands quickly, and have a real say in how our front-end platform grows. You will get to work on integrating AI capabilities into our system to help our customers identify talent early and often. 

Responsibilities

·      Build apps using React Native with Expo and ship via iOS and Android 

·      Build desktop web apps using React via NextJS and that ship for the browser

·      Implement designs from Figma via our design and brand team 

·      Write and maintain shared components using Tailwind and Storybook

·      Shape API contracts with our Platform team and integrate BFF APIs to client side

·      Use AI-assisted development tools, including Claude Code, to improve engineering velocity and quality.

·      Work with product owners to estimate effort for work items and to refine acceptance criteria 

·      Ship code with continuous integration and release best practices

·      Partner with our platform and AI engineers to integrate LLM and RAG-based capabilities into our products.

·      Contribute to backend APIs and supporting services as needed.

·      Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for production support.

Required Qualifications

·      4+ years of experience in software engineering roles

·      3+ years of experience with mobile application lifecycles 

·      2+ years of experience with NodeJS

·      2+ years of experience with React Native or similar framework

·      2+ years of experience with React, NextJS or similar framework 

·      1+ year of experience building or supporting backend systems

·      Strong knowledge of Typescript, JavaScript, HTML and CSS 

·      Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across executive, business, product, and engineering teams.

·      Strong testing habits with unit tests, usage of playwright and other automation frameworks 

·      Experience managing incidents for production systems

Preferred Qualifications

·      Experience in sports technology, sports analytics, media, SaaS, or data-driven businesses.

·      Experience with cloud-based platforms and modern web stack technologies.

·      Experience partnering with software engineering, machine learning, and AI teams to deliver data products.

·      Understanding of REST APIs, OIDC, OAuth and JWTs

·      Experience in Google Cloud Platform or AWS

Compensation

At Rule42 we strive to connect and engage with all employees and to provide a competitive total rewards package.  This package includes a base pay range reasonably expected for this job between $115,000 to $130,000 annually depending upon education, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
