Rubix Agency General Manager / President Remote · Full time Company website

Rubix is hiring a President to partner with the CEO and lead the agency’s next stage of growth—owning team performance, client delivery, operations, and AI-enabled scale.

About Rubix Agency

Rubix is a performance marketing agency built for the next chapter of consumer growth. We partner with ambitious consumer brands to drive profitable, measurable growth through paid media, performance creative, lifecycle marketing, SEO/AEO and analytics. Our clients include brands such as FreshDirect, Fishwife, PetMeds, Mountain House, and Kosterina. What makes Rubix different is our belief that great marketing starts with understanding the economics of a business—not just platform metrics. We help clients make better decisions by connecting marketing performance to customer acquisition cost (CAC), lifetime value (LTV), contribution margin, incrementality, and long-term growth. We're also building an AI-first operating model. We believe AI should make great marketers more strategic, more consistent, and more efficient—not replace judgment, creativity, or strong client relationships. Our team actively incorporates AI into research, reporting, analysis, creative workflows, quality assurance, and internal operations to deliver better outcomes for clients. Rubix is a remote-first company headquartered in New York and is growing rapidly while maintaining a high bar for talent, ownership, and client partnership. We hire people who enjoy solving difficult business problems, thinking strategically, and building systems that scale.

Description

The Opportunity:

Rubix is entering its next chapter.

We’re hiring a President to partner with the CEO to amplify and expedite our growth. The CEO and President will work as a complementary pair: the CEO leading vision, business development, and acting as a point of escalation; the President leading the team, owning our client relationships, and the day-to-day execution of the business. Together, we’ll set the direction, raise the bar, and build the AI-native agency Rubix is becoming.

Rubix is also building toward long-term strategic optionality, including a potential sale, merger, or scaled independent business in the next 2-3 years. The President will be a core architect of that journey and will participate meaningfully in the upside.

What You’ll Lead:

Team performance and development

  • Lead the client-facing team across creative, paid media, lifecycle marketing, and analytics. Set the standard for performance, client trust, and accountability. Partner with the CEO on junior and senior hires, promotions, and key talent decisions. Coach where it makes sense; make hard calls when they need to be made.
  • Exceptional client delivery
  • Own the bar for client work. Bring external materials, client communication, reporting, QBRs, account plans, and strategic recommendations to a consistent Rubix standard. Build the templates, review cycles, AI-assisted QC, and feedback loops that make the team’s best thinking visible to clients before work goes out the door.

Resource allocation and capacity

  • Lead the staffing and capacity model. Decide which clients sit with which pod or team, when to hire, when to redistribute work, when to rescope, and when a client needs a different level of service.
  • Align capacity with revenue, margin, client complexity, team health, and pipeline.

Margin and operating performance

  • Partner with the Finance Lead to understand gross margin by client, utilization, and the operating decisions that drive EBITDA.

AI as operating leverage

  • Rubix is actively exploring how AI can make the agency sharper, faster, and more consistent. The CEO will lead the broader AI vision and direction; this role will implement AI-enabled workflows into the operating rhythm of the business. This requires curiosity, pragmatism, and a belief that AI can improve how teams work across research, briefs, reporting, QA/QC, analysis, creative iteration, documentation, and client communication.

Operating cadence and rhythm

  • Create the structure that keeps the business moving and the team aligned: leadership meetings, client reviews, staffing reviews, financial reviews, and the accountability loops to make decisions
  • Build the minimum structure that produces clarity and growth.

Who You Are:

  • You have performance marketing experience and have helped grow a successful services business.
  • You’ve led client teams, raised standards, and are excited about building operating systems for scale. You also believe AI is going to reshape what a great agency looks like, and you want to be in the room where that gets built.

You bring

  • 5-10 years of operational leadership in a service business, ideally performance marketing
  • Familiarity and skill with the work: you can read a Meta dashboard, evaluate a QBR deck, and assess whether a search campaign is being run well
  • Experience hiring great talent, both domestically and globally
  • Appetite to understand capacity models, make margin decisions, and partner with finance
  • Fluency and passion for leveraging AI
  • Comfort in founder-led, high-trust environments where clients depend on you
  • Bonus: experience preparing an agency for acquisition, merger, or sale, or going through one as an operator

You are

  • Direct, clear, and able to debate and discuss respectfully
  • Process-driven without being bureaucratic, you can operate with constrained resources
  • A coach to your team, keeping the bar high in a supportive fashion
  • Clear about ownership, deadlines, and impact
  • A proactive communicator who builds trust through follow-through
  • Commercially minded: you understand that great operations drive retention, expansion, profitability, and enterprise value

How We Work:

Rubix is remote-first with a New York office. Most leadership is on the East Coast, and several key client relationships involve in-person meetings periodically. NYC-based candidates are strongly preferred, though exceptional candidates outside NYC will be considered with the expectation of

some travel.

The team operates on Slack, ClickUp, Google Workspace, and Granola for meeting capture. You should be fluent, pragmatic, and ambitious about what AI can do for an agency.
