As an Optician, you will be one of the primary faces of our practice and will interact with patients throughout their visit. You will be trained in both the front office and optical, including patient check-in and scheduling, assisting patients with eyewear, and helping create a welcoming and efficient experience.
For those interested in expanding their skills, there may also be opportunities to train in clinical pre-testing and other areas of the practice.
Prior optical or eye care experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person who is dependable, personable, eager to learn, and takes pride in providing excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Optical Styling & Dispensing: Guide patients through frame selection, lens options, and optical technology based on their prescription, lifestyle, and visual needs. Perform accurate measurements, final fittings, adjustments, and troubleshooting of eyewear. Experienced and/or licensed opticians are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Patient Coordination: Welcome and assist patients, gather demographic and insurance information, verify benefits, and manage appointments and patient communication by phone and online portals.
- Optical Sales & Patient Education: Provide knowledgeable, personalized recommendations on frames, lenses, coatings, and other optical products while creating an excellent patient experience.
- Financial & Insurance Support: Accept payments, assist with insurance billing and coding, and help patients understand their optical and insurance benefits.
- Clinical Support & Cross-Training: Depending on experience and interest, employees may cross-train in optometric technician responsibilities, including patient work-ups, pre-testing, diagnostic testing, and other clinical duties under the direction of our optometrists.
Requirements:
- Licensed or experienced opticians are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates who are newer to the optical field but have a strong interest in learning and growing are also welcome to apply.
- A professional resume and a thoughtful cover letter.
- A genuine, caring personality with the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel occasionally to our Colfax office.
- Previous medical or optical experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate who is eager to grow.
