Key Responsibilities
- Designing and facilitating strategic foresight activities as part of an organizational strategic planning process.
- Conducting environmental scanning and identifying emerging trends, risks, opportunities, and potential disruptors.
- Supporting development of future scenarios and alternative future-state considerations.
- Translating foresight findings into strategic priorities, goals, decisions, and implementation considerations.
- Integrating quantitative and qualitative research with stakeholder perspectives.
- Facilitating discussions with executives, employees, governing boards, customers, community representatives, and/or other stakeholders.
- Advising the project team on established foresight frameworks, methodologies, and tools.
- Contributing to strategic planning reports, presentations, recommendations, and multi-year implementation roadmaps.
- Collaborating with the broader consulting team throughout research, engagement, strategy development, and implementation planning.
Required Qualifications
- Significant professional experience in strategic foresight, futures thinking, scenario planning, or related future-focused strategy work.
- Experience applying strategic foresight methodologies within an actual organizational, governmental, utility, infrastructure, or corporate setting.
- Experience connecting foresight findings to strategic planning, organizational priorities, or long-range decision-making.
- Strong facilitation and stakeholder-engagement skills.
- Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate findings to executive and nontechnical audiences.
- Strong written communication and consulting skills.
- Experience working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary consulting team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a power/electric utility, drinking-water utility, public utility, energy organization, or infrastructure organization.
- Experience supporting public-sector or governing-board strategic planning.
- Experience facilitating scenario-planning or futures workshops with executive leadership.
- Formal education, certification, or professional training in strategic foresight, futures studies, scenario planning, strategic planning, or a related discipline.
- Experience developing multi-year strategic implementation roadmaps.
- Experience incorporating community, customer, employee, and Board perspectives into future-state planning.
