We’re seeking experienced IT Career Coaches / Career Navigation Specialists to support a potential higher-education workforce development initiative serving students and adult learners pursuing technology careers. Coaches will provide individualized career navigation, career planning, job-search support, and accountability for an anticipated caseload of approximately 5–10 mentees, with coaching engagements potentially continuing for up to six months. Ideal candidates have documented experience serving economically vulnerable, unemployed, underemployed, and diverse populations and understand IT career pathways, employer expectations, and workforce development.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide individualized career coaching and navigation for approximately 5–10 mentees.
• Conduct intake, goal setting, needs assessment, and regular coaching check-ins.
• Develop and monitor Individual Employment Plans, Individual Career Plans, Career Pathway Plans, or similar individualized plans.
• Help participants identify IT occupations, certifications, education/training pathways, and employment opportunities.
• Support resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, personal branding, digital portfolios, interviewing, networking, and job-search strategies.
• Help participants remain engaged in training and certification programs and progress toward employment.
• Document coaching activities, participant milestones, employment outcomes, and retention.
• Potentially facilitate career-readiness or applied-learning workshops.
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years providing career guidance, workforce navigation, job-search assistance, or related services to economically vulnerable, unemployed, underemployed, or diverse populations.
• 5+ years developing Individual Employment Plans, Individual Career Plans, or comparable career-planning documents.
• 5+ years providing individualized career coaching, including resume, interview, application, and job-search support.
• 2+ years tracking employment placement and/or retention outcomes.
• 2+ years of experience or demonstrated expertise in IT careers, technology workforce pathways, employer expectations, or recruitment for technology occupations.
• Strong documentation, communication, coaching, and participant-engagement skills.
Preferred Background
• Experience with community colleges, universities, workforce boards, American Job Centers, nonprofits, or government-funded workforce programs.
• Experience coaching adult learners, career changers, or nontraditional students.
• Familiarity with careers in cybersecurity, IT support, networking, cloud computing, data analytics, software development, or related fields.
• Experience facilitating career-readiness workshops.
