KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Program and debug control logic in TwinCAT, including Structured Text, with exposure to C/C++, MATLAB, or related tools as needed.
  • Implement, commission, and optimize EtherCAT-based control schemes for motion, process, and fluid-power systems.
  • Design user interfaces that make complex machines easy to use and troubleshoot.
  • Implement, commission, and optimize EtherCAT-based control schemes for motion, process, and fluid-power systems.
  • Provide hands-on support for troubleshooting, process optimization, and manufacturing, with a sharp eye for identifying constraints, root causes, and elegant solutions.
  • Support electrical design, panel layout, instrumentation selection, and electrical troubleshooting for robotic platforms, working with internal engineers, vendors, and fabricators to ensure systems are safe, maintainable, and compliant with applicable standards such as UL508A, NFPA 79, UL2011, and NFPA 70.
  • Create and maintain clear engineering documentation, including I/O maps, wiring updates, control narratives, test procedures, and supporting CAD documentation in tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by performing a wide range of tasks daily, including transitioning between office-based design work and on-site field activities as needed.
  • Support electromechanical hardware systems both remotely and on-site, ensuring safe, reliable operation.

 REQUIRED BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering or a related field.
  • 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in automation, controls, robotics, or machine commissioning; exceptional project-based experience will be considered in place of traditional years of experience.
  • A proven drive and passion for creating and building new technology.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a Beckhoff/TwinCAT-controlled machine, subsystem, robotic cell, or field-deployed automation project, including meaningful involvement from prototype through commissioning.
  • Hands-on experience with robotic or automated platforms, including sensors, actuators, motion systems, and control systems; exposure to localization or perception systems is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of IO networks and communication, especially EtherCAT.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong analytical mindset to identify issues, propose innovative solutions, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and maintain composure in a fast-paced, start-up environment.

  • A keen eye for detail.
  • The ability to take extreme ownership of the tasks you’re assigned.
  • A self-starter’s attitude - you don’t need to be told what to do next.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Exposure to computational geometry, toolpath generation, or geometric processing.
  • Experience with the non-industrial side of software engineering (C#, Python, Web, CI/CD).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

·        Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed

Salary range: $110,000–$145,000 base salary, depending on demonstrated controls, Beckhoff/TwinCAT, EtherCAT, motion-control, and field-commissioning experience.
