Onsite HR support for the full Robinson Unmanned employee lifecycle
Robinson Unmanned (formerly Ascent AeroSystems) is the uncrewed aircraft systems business unit of Robinson Helicopter Company. We design and manufacture all-weather, high-performance UAS ranging from 249 grams to 1,500 pounds. By combining modular open-system architecture, advanced autonomy, and full-scale aerospace manufacturing, we deliver unmanned VTOL capabilities for mission-critical industrial, civil, and defense applications.
Robinson Unmanned is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to serve as the primary onsite HR contact for employees and managers at our Wilmington facility. This is a hands-on role supporting payroll, HRIS administration, recruiting, onboarding, leaves, employee relations, compliance, and training in partnership with the Robinson Helicopter Company corporate HR team.
The position reports to the President for day-to-day site operations and functionally to the Vice President of Human Resources for alignment with company-wide policies, programs, and HR practices. The successful candidate will be comfortable handling detailed administrative work and sensitive employee matters in the same day.
• Serve as the onsite point of contact for employee and manager HR questions, coordinating complex or sensitive matters with corporate HR.
• Administer Gusto for the Robinson Unmanned employee population, including new hire setup, employee changes, terminations, PTO records, data accuracy, and reporting.
• Provide employees with basic benefit information and distribute communications prepared by corporate HR.
• Support new hire enrollment, qualifying life event changes, and annual open enrollment by helping employees complete forms and access enrollment resources.
• Coordinate with corporate HR to resolve benefit enrollment questions or issues requiring additional review.
• Manage full-cycle recruiting, including hiring manager intake, requisition tracking, sourcing, screening, interview coordination, reference checks, and offer preparation.
• Write and maintain job descriptions and manage external staffing and recruiting agency relationships.
• Coordinate offer letters, background checks, Form I-9 and E-Verify processing, new hire paperwork, orientation, and first-week scheduling.
• Partner with the Office Manager and hiring managers to ensure workspace, equipment, and system access are ready before each new hire starts.
• Coordinate offboarding, including exit interviews, final pay information, benefit continuation materials, and return of company property.
• Respond to employee concerns, conduct appropriate fact-finding, document matters, and escalate significant issues to the Vice President of Human Resources.
• Coach managers on performance expectations, documentation, corrective action, and difficult conversations.
• Maintain accurate personnel files and HR documentation in accordance with federal and Massachusetts requirements.
• Administer leaves of absence, including intake, documentation, carrier and state coordination, return-to-work planning, and manager communication.
• Support implementation and communication of company HR policies and recommend updates needed for Massachusetts operations.
• Coordinate training and support performance review cycles, including process administration and manager guidance.
• Five or more years of progressive, hands-on HR generalist experience covering payroll, recruiting, employee relations, leaves, and compliance.
• Experience operating as a stand-alone or small-team HR practitioner with responsibility for directly completing the work.
• Working knowledge of federal and Massachusetts employment requirements.
• Hands-on experience with an HRIS or payroll platform; Gusto experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience managing full-cycle recruiting and external agency relationships.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills, with excellent organization, judgment, communication, and attention to detail.
• Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred.
• Ability to work onsite in Wilmington, Massachusetts.
This is primarily an office-based position that regularly uses a computer and other standard office equipment. The role requires frequent communication with employees and visitors, occasional movement throughout the facility, and the ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
