Accounting Clerk
The Accounting Clerk will provide onsite support to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Departmental Accounting Office (DAO). This role supports daily accounting operations during periods of increased workload, with a focus on processing financial documentation and invoice reconciliation in compliance with state accounting practices and CAL FIRE protocols.
· Review, audit, and process invoices related to purchase orders and contracts.
· Prepare accurate payment vouchers using the FI$Cal system.
· Reconcile expenditures, research discrepancies, and ensure timely payments.
· Assist CAL FIRE staff with invoice tracking and payment resolution.
· Respond to inquiries related to payment status and procedures.
· Maintain daily production reports and clerical logs.
· Collaborate with internal approvers and state accounting personnel.
· One (1) year of experience maintaining or reviewing financial or statistical records.
· At least one (1) year of experience in an Accounting Clerk or equivalent role.
· Experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions.
· Demonstrated ability to audit, reconcile, and process invoices with accuracy.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial data entry.
· Customer service experience in a professional setting.
