Job Title: Prep Cook

Location: Rita's on the River, San Antonio, TX

Hours: Full-time or Part-time (Closed on Sundays)

Overview:

Rita's on the River is seeking experienced and passionate Prep Cooks to join our culinary team! As a Prep Cook, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality Tex-Mex dishes while maintaining a clean and organized workspace. You will play a key role in ensuring our guests have an exceptional dining experience in our vibrant restaurant on the River Walk.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare foods, and cook menu items according to Rita’s recipes, portion standards, and quality guidelines.
  • Ensure that all food is made to recipes and strong understanding of portions needed for dishes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workstation throughout the shift.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.
  • Properly handle, store, and rotate food items to maintain freshness and quality.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies in accordance with health regulations and company standards.
  • Assist with washing, peeling, chopping, labeling, stocking, vegetables, meats, and sides.
  • Communicate effectively with the front-of-house staff to ensure accuracy and guest satisfaction.


Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a line cook in a fast-paced kitchen is preferred.
  • Understanding of need to do repetitive tasks for bulk work for
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and multitask in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Ability to read & follow recipes, prep lists, and instructions accurately.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have a Food Handler's Certification (or be willing to obtain it).
  • Availability to work Monday through Saturday (Rita's is closed on Sundays).
  • Experience with Tex-Mex cuisine is a plus.

Salary

$15 - $16 per hour
