Rising Tide HR’s Payroll Team Lead will oversee our portfolio of client payroll services. This role will be responsible for managing payroll support for existing clients, shaping and executing payroll strategy, and leading the growth of a payroll specialist team. The leader will ensure the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of payroll operations while driving initiatives that enhance our payroll service offerings.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll and benefits processes for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring timely and accurate payroll execution. 
  • Develop and implement payroll strategies as a shared service and stand-alone business unit that align with the business needs of Rising Tide HR and its clients.
  • Manage and grow a high-performing payroll specialist team, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with the HR leadership team to expand payroll service offerings and ensure integration with benefits administration.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax filings, deductions, and reporting.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for escalated payroll issues, providing expert-level resolution for complex payroll inquiries.
  • Work with the HR Business Partner team to build payroll systems based on Client requirements. 
  • Analyze payroll data and metrics to identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices across client portfolios.
  • Drive payroll-related client engagement, building strong relationships to enhance client satisfaction and retention.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technology and make recommendations based on client needs.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of payroll experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll systems, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience setting up payroll tax accounts across multiple states.
  • Proven experience managing payroll operations, a plus to have managed for multiple clients. 
  • Experience working with benefits brokers, vendors, and administering benefits for organizations
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with experience building and developing teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external clients.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll software (experience with BambooHR, Gusto, UKG, ADP is a plus).
  • Ability to work across multiple time zones.
