Rise Counseling Group is a social justice based private practice in Dayton, OH. We focus on improving the mental health and wellness of women of color. We offer them space to heal and have hope when dealing with anxiety and depression. We believe in “having the conversation” to help clients be released from the junk they carry with them day to day as women, daughters, sisters, mothers, and partners.

If you have a passion for working with Black women, teen girls, and other women of color, this may be the clinical placement for you. We specialize in treating mental health concerns in marginalized populations with a special attunement to Black girl matters. We are a social justice based private practice, meaning we don't shy away from integrating the external and internal realities that intersect and impact the mental health and well being of our clients and we take pride in partnering with organizations & students that do the same.

We are a training center and accept interns all year round. We are currently accepting 2nd year Clinical MSW and Counseling, and Marriage & Family Therapy Interns. Clinical intern(s) will provide individual and family therapy, group support, minimal case management, staffing community events and other organizational duties assigned in a social-justice focused private practice setting working with Women of Color. Intern(s) is expected to proactively complete MSW/MA/MEd learning agreement tasks. Attendance for individual and group supervision is required. Intern(s) will have similar responsibilities as licensed clinicians (therapists) and access to training, professional development, and growth opportunities similar to employees.

Internship hours: Monday- Thursday 4-8p or 5-9p; Friday 9-1p; Saturday 8-12p

A minimum of 15 hours per week is required. We provide you with shadowing, onboarding/ training of our systems, and support throughout your journey.

This is not a virtual internship position. Students are expected to be in the office to obtain their experience for observation and access to field instructors. We are physically located in Dayton, OH and will offer a position in Cleveland, OH in 2026.
