Experienced Baker

We’re looking for an experienced baker to join our team! You will have the opportunity to utilize a wide range of skills, and take on various responsibilities as we are a small and tight-knit team that does it all.


As an experienced member of our baking team, you have a strong passion for food, technique, aligned with our quality-driven culture to constantly seek improvements where possible, and passionate to try new things as we create exciting seasonal experiences for our guests.


You will work closely with core members of the company to produce and create delicious and unique desserts for our guests with a focus on quality.


Ideal candidates are:

  • Experienced in baking a wide variety of products, with a strong focus on pastry experience.
  • Energetic, fun, and friendly!
  • Detail oriented, responsible, and quality driven.
  • Able to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Capability and willingness to pivot and do R&D.
  • Must be a team player - flexible, positive can-do attitude, and willingness to assist where needed.
  • Open to receive and provide feedback, and communicate effectively.
  • Excited to learn and grow with the company and contributes to our culture of intentionality.
  • Looking to grow into a key member of the baking team and help train other junior members.

  • Ability to commute (San Diego, CA 92101).


What you will do:

  • Preparing all needed materials and ingredients, mixing dough, producing filling, managing fermentation, scaling, shaping, piping, decorating and baking.
  • Autonomously and independently execute baking tasks based on recipes and SOPs.
  • Assist packaging/building orders for delivery and confirming count accuracy.
  • Set up and maintain an organized and clean workstation, adhering to sanitation/health regulations and kitchen guideline.
  • Use a variety of industrial kitchen tools and equipment such as: convection ovens, mixers, proofers, electric scales, etc.
  • Clean all equipment, tools, and supplies and maintaining equipment in good working order while following all procedures and policies set forth by the company and health department.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and operation from start to finish, ensuring that all products meet specifications and guarantees.
  • Manage inventory and receive deliveries, ensuring all products are adequately stocked and stored in designated areas.
  • Assisting in multiple stations, as need.
  • Duties and responsibilities may change at any time.


Qualifications:

  • Experienced in baking professionally in a commercial setting (restaurant, retail, or bakery).
  • Experience with independently producing pastries is a must.
  • Experience working with yeasted dough is a plus.
  • Experience using Asian-style flavors and ingredients, or baking Asian baked goods or pastries is a plus.
  • San Diego Food Handlers certificate (or obtain one by your first day)


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to smell, see, and taste.
  • Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, and climb. As well as, lift, push, pull and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
  • This position requires manual dexterity and control, for complex tasks and to make fast, simple repeated movements of fingers, hands and wrists.


Job Type:

  • Starting Part-time probationary period, with the goal to transition into Full-time in after a month of onboarding.


Benefits:

  • Base Rate of $20 for Experienced Baker to start, $22 for Senior Baker to start, plus pooled tip.
  • Paid time off (once full-time)
