Staff Accountant
Duluth, GA | Hybrid | Full-Time
Before we get into responsibilities and requirements, let's talk about who you are. Are you the kind of accountant who gets a little too satisfied when a messy set of books finally ties out? Do you look at a stack of unreconciled transactions not as a headache, but as a puzzle you actually want to solve? And are you someone who takes real ownership of your work, communicates clearly, and doesn't need to be chased to get things done right? If you're nodding along, keep reading. You might be exactly who we're looking for.
We're hiring a Staff Accountant to own the day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting work that keeps our clients' financials accurate and on time. This is an execution-focused role. You'll be a key part of our accounting team, handling the core accounting work so our leadership team can focus on advising clients and growing the firm. The cleaner and more reliable your output, the more you'll own.
About Us
Right Choice Accounting Solutions helps practices, agencies, and firms maximize their profits while saving A LOT in taxes. We're a full-service accounting and tax firm built for business owners who are done piecing together bookkeeping, payroll, and tax help and are ready for a team that can take their entire accounting function to the next level.
Our clients come to us as the upgrade they didn't know they needed. We're the team that makes their numbers make sense, keeps them on track, and builds the strategies that actually move the needle as they scale.
We specialize in Client Advisory Services (CAS), monthly financial reporting, bookkeeping, tax strategy, tax preparation, and payroll support. As a one-stop shop, we deliver results without the stiff, corporate vibe. Our clients trust us because we make accounting approachable, effective, and dare we say, actually enjoyable to talk about.
Proudly family-owned and CPA-led, we're not just about the numbers. We're about the people behind them. Recently featured in Forbes as "Top CPAs in Georgia," recognized as Best in County in Gwinnett multiple years in a row, and named among the Top 20 business alumni from the university where our leaders met, we're just getting started.
The Role
The Staff Accountant owns the core, recurring accounting work that keeps our clients' books clean, accurate, and current. This is a hands-on accounting role. You won't work directly with clients at first. You'll work closely with our leadership team, who review your work and handle client communication.
You'll run bookkeeping and categorizations across a portfolio of client companies, handle reconciliations and cleanups, process payroll, prepare journal entries, support month-end close, and communicate clearly and often with questions, issues, and feedback so the review process runs smoothly. We're looking for someone who can manage their work, catch what needs catching, and know the difference between what to fix and what to flag.
Key Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping & Reconciliations
• Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Online accurately and completely
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations across a portfolio of client companies
• Clean up and correct existing books where needed
Payroll & Month-End
• Process payroll for clients' employees and contractors under our standard procedures
• Prepare recurring and adjusting journal entries
• Support the full month-end close process
Communication
• Communicate regularly and clearly with the team on status, blockers, and needs
• Use Right Choice systems and communication methods to stay "in the loop" with the team
• Never guess. Always use the team as a resource when things are unclear.
Growth Opportunities
• Plenty of room to grow as we grow
• Opportunities to develop into Client Advisory Services (CAS) as you show capacity for more
• Advancement based on results, not years in the seat
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
• 2 to 5 years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience
• QuickBooks Online experience (preferred)
• Working knowledge of US GAAP, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close
• Strong attention to detail and the judgment to know what to fix versus what to escalate
• Excellent communication skills. Willing to ask questions and keep the team updated.
• A reliable, organized, self-managing work style
• Must be able to work from our Duluth, GA office during training, then hybrid
• A collaborative, team-oriented mindset & personality that adds to our positive office culture
Bonus Points
• Experience running payroll in Gusto
• Experience with professional service businesses (firms, agencies, and practices)
• A track record of accurate, low-rework work that needs minimal correction
• Experience using ClickUp and Slack
Work Schedule
Let's be honest. Who really needs an 8-hour workday every single day? Not us! Even on in-office days, once the work is done, so are you. We value results over hours.
Training is in-office at our Duluth, GA location. After training, this role is hybrid. Everyone at Right Choice is available between 10 AM and 3 PM, Monday through Friday, with all Mondays in-office and most Fridays remote.
Compensation & Benefits
• Competitive salary
• Medical, dental, and vision insurance
• Life insurance
• 401(k) plan
• Flexible work schedule
• Paid holidays (plus a few extras)
• Fun, inclusive, growth-focused team culture
Probationary Period: A 90-day probationary period allows us to assess performance, cultural fit, and alignment with company goals. We use this time to make sure the role is a great fit for both of us, while giving you the chance to shine.
