Key Responsibilities:
- Client Assessment and Diagnosis:
- Conduct thorough assessments of clients' mental, emotional, and social health.
- Diagnose mental health disorders according to DSM-5 criteria (if licensed to do so).
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clients' needs and goals.
- Therapeutic Intervention:
- Provide individual, family, and group therapy sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
- Utilize interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, and other relevant modalities.
- Monitor and evaluate clients' progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Crisis Intervention:
- Provide immediate support and intervention during crises, such as suicidal ideation, severe emotional distress, or trauma.
- Develop safety plans and coordinate with emergency services when necessary.
- Case Management:
- Coordinate with other healthcare providers, social service agencies, and community resources to ensure comprehensive care.
- Advocate for clients' needs and rights, ensuring they receive appropriate services and support.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, documentation, and reports.
- Education and Advocacy:
- Educate clients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Advocate for mental health awareness and reduce stigma within the community.
- Provide training and support to other staff members and stakeholders as needed.
- Compliance and Ethics:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited program.
- Current license in the state of CT.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mental health work or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of mental health disorders, therapeutic techniques, and evidence-based practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and case management software.
- Comfort and willingness to learn to practice with horses and farm animals as a modality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with specific populations, such as children, adolescents.
- Certification in specialized therapeutic modalities (e.g., EMDR, CBT, DBT).
- Experience working with horses and farm animals.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a natural setting, on a farm. Sessions may be outdoors or indoors. Sessions may take place in inclement weather.
- The therapist must be comfortable with practicing in unpredictable outdoor conditions and indoor conditions that reflect the barn/natural settings.
- Evening or weekend hours may be required to accommodate clients' schedules.
- Exposure to emotionally challenging situations and crises.
