Rex Academy Computer Science Instructor Milwaukee, WI · Part time

Rex K-12 is seeking a highly motivated Computer Instructor to join our team in Milwaukee, WI. We are open to candidates who are currently in college or possess relevant tech certifications or experience. This part-time position involves teaching 6th-grade computer science classes exclusively on-site at our partner school.

Description

Schedule:

5 hours per week (3 hours active instruction, 2 hours prep time)

- Teaching hours: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (1 hour each day)

- Grade Level: 6th Grade Computer Science


Key Responsibilities:


1. Instruction:

  - Deliver engaging and effective computer science lessons to 6th-grade students on-site at our partner school.

  - Adapt teaching methods to cater to the specific needs of the on-site classroom environment.

  - Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere to encourage student participation and success.


2. Preparation:

  - Devote 2 hours per week to curriculum preparation and planning for upcoming on-site classes.

  - Develop and modify lesson plans, assignments, and assessments as needed.

  - Ensure that instructional materials are up-to-date and aligned with the curriculum standards.


3. Communication:

  - Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and school staff as needed.

  - Address student inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.

  - Collaborate with the Rex team to align teaching materials with program objectives.


4. Professional Development:

  - Stay current with developments in computer science education.

  - Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance teaching skills.

  - Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to program improvement discussions.


Qualifications:


- Currently enrolled in college or graduate with a focus on computer science, education or a related field, or

- Possess relevant tech certifications or experience in the field.

- Teaching certification or education experience is a plus but not required.

- Strong knowledge of computer science concepts and programming languages is a plus, but not required.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles.

- Patience, adaptability, and a passion for educating young learners.
