Wilderness Camp staff are paired 1:1 with a child with developmental disabilities between the ages of 10 and 13 years. They are responsible for that one child for the entirety of camp week, and also work as a team to create a safe, stimulating camp experience for a group of 10-11 children. They must provide supervision, engagement, and assistance to their camper throughout the day, and share responsibilities for overnight care for a group of children. Each staff must demonstrate that they are capable of communicating and working well as part of a team. They must be organized, proactive, resilient, and able to resolve issues through creative problem solving.

JOB TITLE: Wilderness Camp Child Care Staff
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non exempt
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Temporary, Full-Time
SALARY RANGE: $1300 flat pay for the week
WORK HOURS: 6 days, 2-3 nights. Due to the nature of the camp environment, work hours will vary, and staff will be scheduled for active and inactive periods throughout each day. Staff will have designated on-duty and off-duty periods throughout the camp week. Off-duty time is defined as time in which the employee is fully relieved of responsibilities and is not required to supervise children or remain actively engaged in work duties. Overnight shifts will be assigned in advance. Staff are responsible for active supervision during assigned overnight shifts. On non-assigned nights, staff are considered off-duty and are expected to rest but may be called upon in the event of an emergency. Breaks and off-duty periods will be coordinated daily by camp leadership to ensure appropriate coverage and compliance with wage and hour guidelines.
