Repset Survey LLC is seeking experienced Remote Survey CAD Technicians to provide project-based drafting support for land surveying projects. The ideal candidate has strong AutoCAD/Civil 3D skills, understands survey drafting conventions, and can efficiently produce clean, professional drawings from field and record information provided by Repset Survey.

About Repset Survey LLC

Repset Survey's purpose is to be a reliable consultant in matters of land development to the general public and private clients through their land surveying and mapping services.

Description

Position Overview

Repset Survey LLC is seeking experienced Remote Survey CAD Technicians to provide project-based drafting support for our land surveying operations.

This opportunity is designed for experienced CAD professionals who can efficiently take a partially prepared survey drawing, supporting project information, and marked-up drafting instructions and develop the drawing toward completion for final review by a licensed Professional Surveyor and Mapper.

This is a remote, independent contractor opportunity with assignments offered on a project-by-project basis as workload becomes available.

How the Work Is Structured

Repset Survey will perform the initial project setup, surveying analysis, and professional decision-making before work is assigned.

For a typical assignment, the contractor can expect to receive a drawing that is already approximately 30–40% developed, along with supporting project information and/or a marked-up drawing identifying the additions, revisions, annotations, and other drafting work required.

The contractor's primary responsibility is to efficiently execute those instructions and return a clean, organized CAD drawing ready for Repset Survey's final professional review.

Routine assignments are generally expected to require approximately 1–3 hours of production time for an experienced survey CAD technician, although actual complexity will vary by project.

Primary Responsibilities

Contractors will generally be expected to:

  • Develop partially prepared survey drawings according to provided markups and instructions.
  • Add and revise linework, dimensions, bearings and distances, annotations, labels, symbols, improvements, easements, rights-of-way, monumentation, and other survey information as directed.
  • Maintain established drawing organization, layers, styles, blocks, and drafting conventions.
  • Incorporate supplied field and record information into the drawing when instructed.
  • Perform a reasonable self-review of completed work before submission.
  • Identify missing, conflicting, or unclear information and request clarification rather than making unsupported assumptions.
  • Return completed CAD files and associated deliverables within the agreed project timeframe.
  • Make reasonable drafting corrections identified during Repset Survey's final review.

Software & Equipment

Contractors are responsible for providing and maintaining their own computer equipment, mapping/drafting software, software licenses, internet connection, and other resources necessary to perform the assigned work.

Repset Survey works primarily and almost exclusively in Autodesk Civil 3D, so direct Civil 3D experience is strongly preferred.

Contractors must be capable of working with files supplied by Repset Survey without creating compatibility issues that interfere with our Civil 3D production environment.

Repset Survey does not provide contractors with Autodesk or other CAD software licenses.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous land surveying CAD/drafting experience.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and preferably Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Familiarity with boundary and improvement surveys and other common land surveying deliverables.
  • A working understanding of survey terminology, plats, deeds, bearings and distances, easements, rights-of-way, monumentation, improvements, and property boundary information.
  • The ability to accurately follow written and graphical markups.
  • Strong attention to detail and drawing consistency.
  • The ability to work independently and communicate questions clearly.
  • Reliable computer equipment and appropriately licensed CAD software.

Florida land surveying drafting experience is preferred but not required for an otherwise qualified candidate.

Compensation & Independent Contractor Structure

This is an independent contractor opportunity. Compensation is established on a per-project basis rather than as an hourly wage or salary.

The fee for each assignment will be communicated before the contractor accepts the project and may vary depending on the anticipated drafting effort and complexity.

Any hourly compensation range displayed with this posting should be considered an estimated equivalent for job-posting purposes only. Actual compensation is based upon the agreed fee for the individual assignment and not the number of hours the contractor ultimately requires to complete it.

Assignments will be offered based on Repset Survey's workload and the contractor's demonstrated capabilities. Contractors may accept assignments based on their availability.

There is no guaranteed minimum number of projects or hours. Repset Survey's goal, however, is to establish ongoing relationships with reliable contractors who consistently provide accurate and timely work.

Professional Responsibility & Review

The contractor's role is CAD production and drafting support. Contractors are not being engaged to independently make professional surveying determinations on behalf of Repset Survey.

Repset Survey retains responsibility for boundary analysis, professional surveying decisions, final quality-control review, certification, signing, and sealing of its professional survey products.

Contractors are expected to raise questions whenever an instruction or supplied piece of information appears incomplete, inconsistent, or requires clarification.

All contractor-produced drawings remain draft work products until reviewed and approved by Repset Survey's licensed Professional Surveyor and Mapper.
