Responsibilities
- Create inspection plans that leverage various advanced metrology equipment (ex. coordinate measuring machines, 3D scanners, optical measuring devices, and more) for precision measurement of machined and 3D printed components.
- Develop and optimize CMM programs using Zeiss Calypso to ensure components meet dimensional tolerances and quality specifications.
- Develop and optimize laser scanning strategies using FARO hardware (ex. Quantum S Max) and InnovMetric software (ex. Polyworks Inspector).
- Perform dimensional inspections using a variety of metrology equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and FARO metrology arms.
- Provide detailed feedback to manufacturing engineers related to geometric information revealed during inspection activities, aid in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, production, and quality teams to interpret technical drawings and specifications, including GD&T requirements.
- Create and document detailed inspection reports within ProShop ERP, including non-conformance reports, as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy, speed, and reliability of metrology processes.
- Assist in the calibration and maintenance of CMMs and other metrology equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in metrology or quality preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience programming and operating CMMs, preferably Zeiss CMMs with Calypso software.
- Strong understanding of GD&T and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Experience with various inspection tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, FARO arms).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve programming or machine-related issues independently.
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., mechanical engineering, manufacturing, quality control).
- Experience with handheld laser scanning systems and Polyworks Inspector software.
- Familiarity with quality standards such as AS9100, ISO9001, or IATF 16949.
- Experience in high-precision manufacturing environments (e.g., aerospace, medical, automotive).
