We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to support our financial team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, handling day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, and supporting month-end and year-end financial close processes. The Bookkeeper will play a key role in ensuring that the company’s financial data is up-to-date and that transactions are recorded in compliance with financial regulations.

Core Responsibilities: 

Daily Bookkeeping

  • Record and categorize daily financial transactions, ensuring all payments, invoices, and receipts are accurately entered into the accounting system.
  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all accounts are up-to-date and reconciled regularly.
  • Process vendor invoices, payments, and manage employee expense reimbursements.

Bank Reconciliation & Reporting

  • Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and petty cash accounts.
  • Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure timely payment and collection.
  • Generate financial reports such as trial balances, cash flow statements, and profit and loss reports as needed.

Payroll & Tax Support

  • Assist with payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payments to employees.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including calculating and remitting payroll taxes, sales taxes, and other statutory filings.
  • Support the preparation of tax returns by providing necessary documentation to external accountants.

Expense Management

  • Review and manage employee expense reports, ensuring they comply with company policies.
  • Monitor spending and identify opportunities for cost control and efficiency improvements.

Financial Administration & Support

  • Support the Finance Manager with month-end and year-end closing tasks, including journal entries and adjusting entries.
  • Maintain an organized filing system for financial documents, including receipts, invoices, and tax-related documents.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections as needed.


Additional Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the RSF Leadership Team ~10%.
  • Supporting the Reinvent Stockton Foundation universe as needed.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping or a related role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in bookkeeping software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and prioritize workload.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work closely with other departments.
  • Problem Solving: Proactive approach to resolving discrepancies and financial issues.

This role offers a starting salary range of $67,500- 82,500 independent of location. Placement within this range is determined by our compensation philosophy, which prioritizes competency and experience over credentials.


During the interview process, candidates will have the opportunity to showcase key core competencies, including: project management, strategic thinking, cultural competence, and problem solving. Following the interview, our assessment of these competencies will guide final salary placement within the specified range.


As we continue refining our evaluation processes, we reserve the right to review and potentially adjust salary after 90 days in the role, based on additional insights.
