This is a field construction position responsible for roughing in cable, installing devices, supporting inspections, and completing clean, professional installations on active construction sites.
This is not an IT desk support role. This is a hands-on construction position. Experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate who is reliable, willing to learn, and comfortable working in field conditions.
Responsibilities
- Rough-in low voltage cabling on commercial construction projects.
- Pull cable through walls, ceilings, conduit, sleeves, cable tray, and J-hooks.
- Install devices and equipment for fire alarm, access control, security, cameras, data, audio/video, and other low voltage systems.
- Mount backboxes, supports, pathways, panels, devices, and related equipment.
- Assist with terminating, labeling, testing, and troubleshooting low voltage systems.
- Read and follow construction drawings, device layouts, and installation instructions.
- Work on ladders, lifts, ceilings, walls, and active construction areas.
- Coordinate daily work with project managers, crew leads, general contractors, and site superintendents.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Track materials, tools, job progress, and completed work.
- Communicate field issues, missing materials, plan conflicts, or schedule concerns to leadership.
- Assist with punch lists, inspections, service calls, and warranty work as needed.
- Travel locally and statewide to project sites as required.
Qualifications
- Construction field experience preferred but not required.
- Low voltage, electrical, fire alarm, security, access control, structured cabling, or related installation experience preferred but not required.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
- Ability to work in hot environments, including attics, ceilings, mechanical rooms, rooftops, and active construction sites.
- Ability to perform physical construction work, including lifting materials, climbing ladders, working overhead, and using hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow directions and work safely on active job sites.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in clean, professional work.
- Good communication skills with supervisors, project managers, and jobsite personnel.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Ability to travel locally and statewide as needed.
Preferred Experience
- Fire alarm system installation.
- Access control and door hardware coordination.
- Security camera installation.
- Structured cabling and data rack buildout.
- Conduit, pathway, J-hook, and cable support installation.
- Commercial construction projects.
- Working with general contractors and site superintendents.
- OSHA or lift certification.
Compensation
