The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) helps to fulfill the nursing care requirements of our patients. The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) helps to fulfill the nursing care requirements of our patients. Under the direction of the Medical Director, the LVN will be accountable for ensuring that excellent care and safety is consistently delivered to all patients. This opportunity is available for a motivated and ambitious professional with the right experience and character. 


Responsibilities

Support the Medical Director in the provision of Incidental Medical Services (IMS):

1.      Obtaining medical histories;

2.      Monitoring health status;

3.      Testing associated with detoxification from alcohol or drugs;

4.      Providing alcoholism or drug abuse recovery or treatment services;

5.      Overseeing patient self-administered medications;

6.      Treating substance abuse disorders, including detoxification.

  • Assist with resident comfort
  • Take vital signs; temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration
  • Provides medical and nursing care, within the scope of practice, to meet the unique needs of each patient
  • Transcribes and administers medications and treatments accurately
  • Ensures that all physician and medication orders are carried out and recorded accurately
  • Monitors patient for adverse drug reactions and reports any adverse drug reactions immediately to the supervisor, physician and/or pharmacist
  • Ensures that medication consents are obtained and signed prior to administering psychotropic medications
  • Practices the “5 Rights” of medication administration. Knows side effects, normal dosage, contraindications of all medications given
  • Collects samples and monitors the EMR
  • Completes charting on all assigned patients in progress notes and all pertinent graphics.
  • Is self-directed, recognizes what needs to be done and takes action; works well with direction
  • Uses good judgment and needs minimal supervision, but able to recognize when needs to confer with Supervisor prior to making decisions; makes decisions that maintain policy
  • Ensures Patients’ Rights and Confidentiality


Experience and Required Skills

•        Previous recovery center experience (preferred)

•        Office/business operation skills

•        Communication and presentation skills

•        Excellent customer service and people skills (including one-on-one interaction and group environment)

•        Proven organization and attention to detail

•        Demonstrated computer skills

•        Valid Driver License/Insurance and clean driving record

•        If in personal recovery, a minimum of two (2) years clean and sober

•        Current TB test

•        Willingness to work some nights and weekends

•        Compassionate and friendly demeanor

  • Required Certification:

•        Current First Aid and CPR

  • Graduate from an accredited Vocational School of Nursing program required
  • Current Licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse with the State of California Board of Vocational Nursing
  • Clinical experience in a behavioral health/addiction treatment setting required


Salary

$26 - $30 per hour
