Recovery Café was founded on the understanding that every human being is precious and beloved regardless of past trauma, mental and emotional anguish, or addictive behaviors. We provide a beautiful, safe, warm, drug and alcohol free space and loving community to anchor Members (our most closely-supported participants) in the sustained recovery needed to gain and maintain access to housing, social and health services, healthy relationships, education, and employment. We help people maintain recovery, reduce relapse and fulfill their potential. Recovery Café currently has about 35 employees. We operate two cafés in Seattle and operate the Recovery Café Network, which provides training and support to over 90 Member Cafés across the US and Canada.

Recovery Café is seeking a Recovery Specialist to support direct member engagement at our South Lake Union location, working Tuesday – Saturday, 10am – 6:30pm. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, relationship-centered, and passionate about supporting people on all pathways of recovery, and is represented by United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) 3000.

What You’ll Do

• Modeling exemplary food preparation techniques, help prepare, cook, serve and clean up meals and support inventory practices.
• Participate in direct service and café floor operations, including Recovery Circles, member engagement, and resource access assistance.
• Providing radical hospitality, serve as a primary presence on Café floor and perform front door operations to ensure accurate check-ins and updating of materials.
• Ensure the Café remains clean and beautiful, assisting with daily set up and clean up
• Assist with donation pickups, deliveries, administrative work, and daily operational tasks as assigned.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Valid Food Handlers Card (or ability to obtain)
• Ability to work on-site Tuesday – Saturday,10am – 6:30pm
• 2–5 years of progressively responsible experience using skills relevant to this role.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and maintain appropriate boundaries.
• Ability to de-escalate conflict and respond calmly in challenging situations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excel.
• A compassionate, recovery-oriented approach and a desire to support and motivate others.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in social services, addiction recovery, behavioral health, or human services.
• Drug/alcohol counseling experience or related education.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
