As a Landscape Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of landscape projects and providing comprehensive bids to clients. Your role will involve analyzing project requirements, conducting site visits, collaborating with vendors and subcontractors, and preparing detailed cost estimates. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of landscaping practices, excellent mathematical and analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with clients and suppliers.
Responsibilities:
Project Analysis and Planning:
Review project plans, specifications, and scope of work to understand project requirements.
Conduct site visits to assess project conditions, identify potential challenges, and gather necessary information.
Collaborate with landscape designers, architects, and project managers to ensure accurate project analysis.
Cost Estimation and Pricing:
Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
Research and obtain pricing from vendors and suppliers to determine the most cost-effective options.
Analyze historical data and benchmarks to develop accurate pricing models.
Consider factors such as project complexity, site conditions, and project timelines when estimating costs.
Bid Preparation and Submission:
Prepare comprehensive and competitive bids based on accurate cost estimates.
Ensure bids are submitted within specified timelines and comply with client requirements.
Collaborate with the sales team to review bid proposals, address client queries, and negotiate contracts.
Vendor and Subcontractor Management:
Identify and collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and availability of materials and services.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
Evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals to determine the best fit for the project.
Cost Optimization and Value Engineering:
Identify opportunities to optimize costs and improve project efficiency without compromising quality.
Explore alternative materials and methods to achieve cost savings.
Provide recommendations for value engineering to clients and project teams.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of cost estimates, bid proposals, and communication with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
Generate reports and summaries to track and analyze project costs and profitability.
Collaborate with the accounting department to ensure accurate cost tracking and invoicing.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a Landscape Estimator or in a similar role within the landscaping industry.
In-depth knowledge of landscaping practices, including installation, irrigation, hardscaping, and plant care.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with the ability to accurately estimate project costs.
Proficiency in using estimation software and tools.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret project plans and specifications.
Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and deliver accurate estimates.
Knowledge of industry pricing, materials, and subcontractor services.
Valid driver's license.
