Organizational Overview
Queer Power Alliance (QPA) builds collective power for LGBTQIA+ liberation by dismantling systemic oppression. We advocate, educate, and organize to achieve economic housing, racial, and gender justice so that all can thrive.
Our office is based in Seattle, and we work throughout the Puget Sound. QPA centers trans and nonbinary, queer, Black and Brown, Indigenous, and People of Color, working-class, disabled, immigrant, and youth community members. We lead programs focused on housing justice, community-owned data, civic engagement, leadership development, LGBTQIA+ protections, and economic and safety justice.

Position Summary
The Program & Advocacy Manager leads Queer Power Alliance's housing justice, economic justice, civic engagement, leadership development, and advocacy programs. This position works to strengthen economic resilience and community power by supporting LGBTQIA+ communities through education, organizing, leadership development, policy advocacy, and resource navigation.
The Program & Advocacy Manager develops community leadership, builds strategic partnerships, facilitates trainings, coordinates community engagement efforts, and advances policy priorities identified by impacted communities. Working closely with community members, coalition partners, government agencies, and organizational staff, this role helps translate community experiences into advocacy initiatives, organizing strategies, and systems-change efforts.
This position plays a critical role in advancing housing stability, worker protections, economic opportunity, and equitable access to public resources. The Program & Advocacy Manager ensures LGBTQIA+ communities have access to information, support, leadership opportunities, and advocacy pathways while helping build grassroots power and community-driven solutions.
The ideal candidate is an experienced organizer, advocate, and relationship builder who is passionate about economic, housing, racial, and gender justice and is committed to advancing LGBTQIA+ liberation through collective action and community leadership.
Core Responsibilities
Program Management & Implementation (40%)
- Lead implementation of community advocacy, civic engagement, housing justice, and economic justice programs.
- Coordinate program activities, deliverables, timelines, and reporting requirements.
- Develop and implement educational workshops, trainings, leadership development opportunities, and community engagement activities.
- Provide technical assistance, resource navigation, and referrals related to housing stability, worker rights, public benefits, and economic justice.
- Support the creation of educational materials, outreach tools, and advocacy resources.
- Maintain program tracking systems, evaluation data, and grant reporting documentation.
- Coordinate events, forums, community meetings, leadership cohorts, and advocacy campaigns.
Community Organizing & Leadership Development (25%)
- Build and sustain trusted relationships with LGBTQIA+ community members, grassroots leaders, and partner organizations.
- Recruit, engage, and support community participants and emerging leaders.
- Facilitate leadership development opportunities, community meetings, listening sessions, and organizing spaces.
- Support directly impacted individuals in developing advocacy, organizing, and civic engagement skills.
- Mobilize community members to participate in policy advocacy, public testimony, leadership opportunities, and community actions.
Advocacy & Campaign Coordination (20%)
- Lead and support advocacy campaigns aligned with organizational priorities.
- Coordinate community participation in legislative, policy, and systems-change efforts.
- Monitor relevant policy developments and identify opportunities for engagement.
- Support campaign planning, power mapping, and mobilization strategies.
- Develop accessible advocacy materials, action alerts, and educational resources.
- Advocate for housing justice, economic security, worker protections, civic participation, and LGBTQIA+ equity.
Coalition Building & Partnerships (15%)
- Represent Queer Power Alliance in coalitions, task forces, working groups, and community partnerships.
- Build collaborative relationships with housing, labor, racial justice, civic engagement, and LGBTQIA+ organizations.
- Coordinate joint advocacy strategies, community engagement efforts, and coalition activities.
- Support organizational partnerships that strengthen community power and economic resilience.
- Educate institutions, systems, and government agencies on LGBTQIA+ community needs and experiences.

Qualifications
Required
- Experience in community organizing, advocacy, movement-building, or program management.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships across diverse communities.
- Experience facilitating meetings, trainings, workshops, or leadership development programs.
- Understanding of policy advocacy, systems change, or legislative processes.
- Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with LGBTQIA+ communities or directly impacted populations.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Commitment to Queer Power Alliance’s mission and values.
Preferred
- Knowledge of Washington State policy and advocacy landscapes.
- Experience managing grants, contracts, or government-funded programs.
- Multilingual skills and/or culturally specific community experience.
- Lived experience connected to the communities served by Queer Power Alliance.
