Primary Function:

The Steward is an entry-level position within the Qualla Enterprises, LLC organizational structure and will provide support to the processing and production function. The Steward is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all dishes and utensils used by guests, as well as kitchen equipment and cookware.

 

Reports to: Sous Chef

 

Supervises: none

 

Pay Grade/FLSA Status: H6/Non-exempt

 

Qualifications:

·        6 months kitchen experience preferred.

·        Must be 21 years of age or older.

·        Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

·        Replenishes non-food items as needed.

·        Cleans and stocks supplies such as plates, silverware, cookware, etc.

·        Cleans food preparation areas, including counters, machinery, and preparation tables.

·        Maintains sanitation in accordance with health department and divisional standards.

·        Cleans and sanitizes all cookware, dishes, and utensils.

·        Engages in deep daily deep cleaning of kitchen and processing facilities.

·        Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

·        Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

·        Knowledge of proper sanitization and cleaning methods and standards.

·        Ability to work effectively as an individual without close supervision as well as part of a team.

 

Physical Demands:

·        Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and push and pull up to 300 pounds with the aid of a cart.

·        Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grasp.

·        Must be able to work around chemicals such as degreaser, dish soap, rinse aid, alcohol based floor cleaners, and quat sanitizer.

·        Must be able to be on feet for an 8-hour shift.
