Position Overview
We are seeking an Associate Counsel with strong commercial negotiation skills to support Pulse’s expanding portfolio of agreements with players, vendors, partners, and service providers. This role will work cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Marketing, and Finance to draft, review, negotiate, and manage contracts that enable growth while mitigating legal and commercial risk.
The ideal candidate has experience in retail, consumer products, and/or sports and entertainment licensing, and brings a practical, business-first approach to legal problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize a wide range of commercial agreements, including:
- Vendor and supplier agreements
- Licensing and endorsement agreements
- Distribution and wholesale agreements
- NDAs and confidentiality agreements
- Sponsorship and promotional contracts
- Player and athlete agreements
- Partner with internal stakeholders (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations) to structure commercial terms that align with business objectives.
- Provide clear, pragmatic legal guidance on compliance, risk mitigation, and contractual obligations.
- Maintain and improve contract templates, version control, and contract tracking systems.
- Identify legal and commercial risks and develop strategies to minimize exposure.
- Support corporate governance matters and special legal projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active bar admission in New Jersey or another U.S. jurisdiction.
- 3–5 years of legal experience, preferably in-house or at a law firm focused on corporate or transactional matters.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating commercial contracts.
- Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in retail, consumer products, sports, entertainment, or media licensing.
- Familiarity with intellectual property, marketing, endorsement, and distribution agreements.
- Ability to advise non-legal stakeholders with clear, business-focused recommendations.
Compensation
- $80,000-$100,000 annual salary
