This role is ideal for an engineer who is as comfortable troubleshooting from a Linux terminal as working on aircraft hardware with a torque wrench. You’ll contribute throughout the product lifecycle, from designing for maintainability and supportability to developing maintenance procedures, analyzing operational data, planning field retrofits, and leading root cause and corrective action (RCCA) efforts.

You’ll work closely with mechanical, electrical, software, controls, system safety, reliability, manufacturing, supply chain, flight test, operations, and program management teams. In this fast-moving startup environment, you’ll navigate evolving requirements and technical uncertainty while working at the system level and directly in the lab or field to support integration, testing, troubleshooting, corrective action, and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop requirements and maintenance concepts that make Transwing® aircraft systems easier to maintain and support.
• Work with technical writers to create maintenance procedures, work instructions, service letters, service bulletins, and continued airworthiness documentation.
• Analyze operational and maintenance data to identify trends and emerging issues.
• Verify maintainability and supportability requirements and assess the field impact of engineering changes.
• Plan and support field retrofits, system upgrades, and corrective actions.
• Develop damage limits and support airworthiness determinations for fielded aircraft.
• Lead or support root cause and corrective action (RCCA) efforts, from investigation through implementation and verification.
• Provide technical guidance to Field Support Representatives and field technicians.
• Travel up to 25% to support global operations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience in systems engineering, product development, aerospace, autonomous systems, robotics, automotive systems, defense systems, or another complex hardware and software environment.
• Experience developing maintenance procedures or work instructions and providing technical support in a test, production, or operational environment.
• Experience performing root cause analysis and developing, implementing, and verifying corrective actions.
• Broad technical knowledge and the ability to work with specialists across engineering disciplines.
• Ability to coordinate cross-functional engineering and project efforts.
• Willingness to work directly with aircraft hardware, test equipment, and operational systems in the lab and in the field.
• Strong analytical, communication, writing, presentation, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work through changing priorities and technical uncertainty in an R&D or startup environment.
• Ability to work on-site in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating hardware and software on air vehicles, including avionics, sensors, payloads, embedded computing systems, communications equipment, and related interfaces.
• Experience with aircraft-level integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with requirements management, issue tracking, configuration management, product lifecycle management (PLM), or risk management tools.
• Experience verifying and validating complex hardware and software systems.
• Experience supporting flight tests, ground tests, system integration labs, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or field operations.
• Familiarity with reliability, maintainability, system safety, or design assurance practices.
• Familiarity with UAS operations, aviation regulations, military or ASTM standards, FAA processes, or airworthiness qualification methods.
• Experience providing OEM technical support to internal and external customers.
