Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a bilingual construction professional to guide adult learners through NCCER Core Curriculum and Construction Craft Laborer (CCL) Levels 1 and 2. Instruction is fully remote, primarily through existing asynchronous course content with scheduled live virtual support. NCCER instructor certification is welcome but not required at hire; training can be provided. The ideal candidate brings substantial journey-worker-level field experience, communicates clearly in English and Spanish, and enjoys helping learners develop practical construction knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and facilitate existing NCCER Core Curriculum and Construction Craft Laborer Levels 1 and 2 instructions through online coursework and scheduled live virtual sessions.
  • Explain construction concepts, terminology, course instructions, and general safety practices in English and Spanish; support comprehension without translating, altering, or interpreting restricted assessment or test content.
  • Present established instructional materials and, when requested, participate in recordings of instructor-led delivery of content already developed by the program.
  • Discuss jobsite safety awareness, PPE, hazard recognition, and relevant construction practices within the approved curriculum; provide formal OSHA standards instruction only when appropriately qualified and authorized.
  • Support learning on site layout, concrete and masonry assistance, basic rigging concepts, material handling, demolition, and site cleanup as covered by the curriculum.
  • Respond to learner questions and discussion posts, clarify course concepts, and provide constructive coaching within established response expectations.
  • Review automatically graded assignment results as needed to identify learning needs and provide supplemental explanations or feedback; do not manually grade assignments.
  • Use available LMS information to monitor learner engagement and progress and flag concerns to program staff; official training records and grades are maintained electronically in the LMS.
  • Collaborate with the training team to improve learner understanding and consistency of instruction using existing approved course materials.
  • Offer general guidance on work readiness, teamwork, and construction career pathways; this position does not perform recruitment or job placement.

Required Qualifications

  • At least four years of hands-on construction experience at the journey-worker level in construction craft labor, or closely related field work.
  • Fluent professional communication in spoken and written English and Spanish, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly in both languages.
  • Working knowledge of construction practices, tools, jobsite safety awareness, and the subject matter covered by NCCER Core and CCL Levels 1 and 2.
  • Ability and willingness to complete applicable NCCER instructor training or certification as required by the program; existing NCCER instructor certification is not required to apply.
  • Comfort using video meetings, email, and basic computer tools; willingness to learn the program’s learning management system (LMS).
  • Strong organization, dependable communication, and ability to support adult learners with varied experience levels in a remote setting.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current NCCER Craft Instructor certification and/or additional relevant NCCER craft credentials.
  • Experience teaching adult learners or workforce development participants, especially online or in asynchronous programs.
  • Previous experience with an LMS and delivery of recorded or live virtual instruction.
  • OSHA 510 course completion and OSHA 500 trainer authorization, where the role includes authorized OSHA Outreach construction training. OSHA 10- or 30-hour completion cards alone do not authorize an individual to teach OSHA standards or Outreach courses.

Work Environment and Technology

  • Work remotely from a quiet, professional location with reliable internet and a computer equipped with webcam and microphone.
  • Deliver online instruction and attend scheduled live sessions using program-approved platforms.
  • No personal construction tools, materials, or hands-on demonstration filming setup are required for this position.
