ProDex Labs Inc Senior Software Engineer New York, NY · Full time Company website

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of Dexter’s core application and services. You will build the software that turns factory data, analytical engines, and AI capabilities into dependable workflows for production planning, simulation, and operational decision-making.

About ProDex Labs Inc

ProDex Labs builds Dexter, an AI industrial engineer for factory operations. Dexter connects enterprise systems, spreadsheets, and operational knowledge into a live factory model that manufacturers use to simulate production, optimize schedules, identify bottlenecks, and reduce quality costs. Our customers include L3Harris, HighCom Armor Solutions, TIME Manufacturing, and Alimentos ProSalud. We are a small team in Manhattan building software for demanding industrial environments, with deployment inside customers’ security boundaries.

Description

About the Role

You will own substantial product areas across the stack, from data models and backend services to the interfaces customers use every day. The work includes representing complex manufacturing relationships, coordinating long-running computations, and making results consistent and traceable as underlying data changes.

You will help set technical direction, lead projects from discovery through production, and strengthen engineering practices. You will work closely with AI, infrastructure, and design engineers to ship capabilities that solve real problems on the factory floor.

In this role, you will

  • Architect and build core product capabilities across backend services, APIs, and frontend workflows, owning delivery from initial requirements through production operation.
  • Design data models for orders, materials, routings, resources, and production constraints, with clear rules for validation, versioning, and source traceability.
  • Integrate simulation, scheduling, cost modeling, and AI capabilities into reliable application workflows, including asynchronous execution, progress tracking, and failure recovery.
  • Build performant interfaces and APIs that let users explore factory data, compare scenarios, and understand the impact of operational changes.
  • Establish testing and observability practices that protect data integrity, catch regressions, and support effective production debugging.
  • Lead technical design and code reviews, and make deliberate tradeoffs across product scope, maintainability, performance, and delivery speed.

What You Bring

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of architecting and shipping complex production applications.
  • Strong software engineering skills in Python and at least one additional language such as Go, Rust, or TypeScript, with experience building infrastructure automation.
  • Experience owning a substantial product area or leading a technically complex initiative across multiple engineers.
  • Strong engineering taste around testing, security, performance, and maintainability, with hands-on experience diagnosing production failures.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous customer needs into clear technical plans and communicate architectural decisions across disciplines.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Experience building manufacturing, logistics, financial, scientific, or other data-intensive operational software.
  • Experience integrating optimization, simulation, or AI systems into production products.
  • Experience developing software for customer-managed or highly regulated environments, including access controls, auditability, and data isolation.

We encourage candidates with strong relevant experience to apply, including those whose backgrounds do not align with every qualification. Some customer assignments require U.S. person status under ITAR.
