About ProDex Labs Inc

ProDex Labs builds Dexter, an AI industrial engineer for factory operations. Dexter connects enterprise systems, spreadsheets, and operational knowledge into a live factory model that manufacturers use to simulate production, optimize schedules, identify bottlenecks, and reduce quality costs. Our customers include L3Harris, HighCom Armor Solutions, TIME Manufacturing, and Alimentos ProSalud. We are a small team in Manhattan building software for demanding industrial environments, with deployment inside customers’ security boundaries.

Description

About the Role

We are hiring a Design Engineer to lead the design and implementation of Dexter’s core product experiences. You will make complex factory operations understandable and actionable, helping users streamline workflows, compare scenarios, and evaluate the evidence behind AI-generated recommendations.

You will establish design patterns, guide frontend architecture, and raise the quality of the product. Your work will focus on information-rich workflows where clarity, speed, and trust directly affect how people make decisions.

In this role, you will

  • Lead product experiences from problem definition and prototyping through implementation, release, and iteration with customers.
  • Design and build data-intensive interfaces, including production schedules, capacity charts, Gantt views, scenario comparisons, and source traceability.
  • Make AI outputs understandable by showing supporting evidence, assumptions, uncertainty, and changes between scenarios, with clear paths for user correction.
  • Own and evolve the design system and reusable frontend components, establishing consistent interaction patterns, accessibility, and product visual standards.
  • Conduct research and usability testing with manufacturing teams, including on-site and tablet workflows, and use findings to improve task completion and comprehension.
  • Partner with product and engineering to prioritize work, lead design and frontend reviews, and mentor teammates on interaction quality, performance, and maintainability.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience designing and building software products, with a portfolio showing substantial work you personally designed and shipped.
  • Strong React, TypeScript, and frontend engineering skills, including component architecture, testing, performance, and production debugging.
  • Demonstrated ability to make complex, information-dense workflows intuitive through strong interaction design, typography, hierarchy, and data visualization.
  • A track record of owning product areas from discovery through production and improving them based on observed user behavior.
  • Experience setting design or frontend standards, leading reviews, and helping other engineers and designers produce better work.
  • Strong product judgment and the ability to make and explain decisions under ambiguity, then revise them as new evidence emerges.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Experience building industrial, scientific, financial, or operations software.
  • Depth in interactive data visualization, scheduling interfaces, or user experiences for AI-powered products.
  • Experience developing a design system adopted across a product or team, with reusable, accessible production components.

We encourage candidates with strong relevant experience to apply, including those whose backgrounds do not align with every qualification.
