Prism Health Lab is seeking a licensed Registered Nurse with pediatric experience to support mobile vaccination clinics, school and sports physical events, community health screenings, and doula-integrated Mom and Baby events throughout the Chicago area. This role involves hands-on pediatric care, including blood draws on young children ages 1–3, childhood vaccinations, blood lead testing, health assessments, and parent education. The RN will work alongside Nurse Practitioners, Medical Assistants, doulas, and other clinical staff in dynamic school and community-based environments. Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Prism Health Lab is a community-based medical practice that has served Chicagoland residents since 1987. In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, we pivoted our practice to support local communities and have made significant strides by focusing our efforts on COVID-19 specific services. To date, we have tested over 50,000 people. We’ve created eight permanent locations, each of which has an incredible story and was offered as a gift by the communities we serve. We’ve also built mobile teams that can work across the State, ready to be deployed as new hotspots arise. Location: Mobile community health events throughout the Chicago area


Key Responsibilities

Pediatric Clinical Care

  • Perform blood draws on young children, particularly ages 1–3.
  • Prepare and administer childhood and school-required vaccines.
  • Conduct pediatric health assessments and obtain vital signs.
  • Perform blood lead testing and other event-specific screenings.
  • Review immunization histories, consent forms, and medical records.
  • Identify missing immunizations and explain recommended next steps.
  • Educate parents and caregivers about vaccines, screening results, and follow-up care.
  • Document all services accurately in the electronic health record system.
  • Refer patients for additional evaluation when needs fall outside the services available at the event.


Maternal Care & Doula Integration

  • Work alongside doulas during postpartum group education and Mom and Baby events.
  • Support health screenings, including blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, and other event-specific services.
  • Answer parent and patient questions related to infant health, vaccinations, and preventive care.


Mobile Clinic Operations

  • Maintain infection-control, patient-safety, and confidentiality standards.
  • Assist with mobile clinic setup, breakdown, and patient flow.
  • Monitor vaccines, medical supplies, testing materials, and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and applicable Illinois healthcare regulations.


Work Environment

Schedule & Employment Type

  • PRN
  • Flexible scheduling based on the event calendar
  • Weekday and weekend availability may be required
  • Availability to start ASAP preferred


Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong pediatric patient-care skills
  • Comfortable drawing blood from young children ages 1–3
  • Strong communication and parent-education skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with doulas and mobile clinical teams
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and disease-control standards
  • Strong organizational and medical documentation skills
  • Adaptability in mobile and community-based environments
  • Patient-centered, compassionate approach


Education, Experience & Licensing

  • Active Illinois Registered Nurse license (Required)
  • BLS Certification (Required)
  • Pediatric nursing experience (Required)
  • Pediatric phlebotomy experience, specifically with children ages 1–3 (Required)
  • Experience administering childhood vaccines
  • Experience with EMR systems and medical terminology
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (Required)
  • Mobile clinic or community health experience preferred
  • Maternal, postpartum, or family health experience preferred
  • Spanish-speaking ability preferred but not required


Salary range

$45–$50 per hour
