Preventia is seeking an experienced Security Systems Service Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience installing, programming, troubleshooting, and servicing electronic security systems. This position requires a technician who is confident working independently, solving complex technical issues, and providing exceptional customer service.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in one or more of the following areas: access control, CCTV/video surveillance, residential and commercial burglar alarm systems, and/or fire alarm systems. A strong understanding of low-voltage wiring, system integration, and industry best practices is highly preferred.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Install, program, service, troubleshoot, and repair electronic security systems.
- Work with access control systems, CCTV/video surveillance, burglar alarm systems, and/or fire alarm systems.
- Perform system start-ups, testing, commissioning, and customer training.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, system plans, and project documentation.
- Install and terminate low-voltage cabling, devices, panels, readers, cameras, sensors, and related equipment.
- Configure and troubleshoot network-connected security devices and systems.
- Communicate professionally with customers, general contractors, project managers, and internal team members.
- Maintain accurate service documentation, work order notes, and system records.
- Ensure all work is completed according to company standards, manufacturer specifications, and applicable codes.
- Identify additional customer needs and communicate potential system improvements or service opportunities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Provide support and guidance to less experienced technicians when needed.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in the electronic security or low-voltage industry.
- Proven experience with one or more of the following:
- Access Control
- CCTV/Video Surveillance
- Residential Burglar Alarm Systems
- Commercial Burglar Alarm Systems
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, floor plans, and system documentation.
- Knowledge of low-voltage wiring and installation practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift equipment, work from ladders, and work in various indoor and outdoor environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with systems such as Alarm.com, Brivo, Eagle Eye Networks, DSC, Honeywell, DMP, or other comparable platforms.
- Experience with IP networking and PoE devices.
- Manufacturer certifications or industry training.
- Experience leading installations or mentoring junior technicians.
- NICET certification or fire alarm experience.
- Experience with system integration and multi-platform security solutions.
