Porter Tech is seeking a skilled and experienced Low Voltage Technician for a part-time, 3-week project. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience installing cabling pathways, pulling Cat6 and fiber optic cables, terminating cables, testing and labeling cables, and installing racks and equipment.
Note: This is a part-time position for three weeks. There may be opportunities for additional work based on project needs and your availability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cabling Pathways: Install structured cabling pathways for various communication and data systems.
- Cable Pulling: Pull Cat6 and fiber optic cables through conduits, ceilings, and walls.
- Fiber Optic Work: Pull, splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cables.
- Cable Termination: Terminate Cat6 and fiber optic cables using industry-standard practices.
- Testing and Labeling: Test cables for continuity and performance, ensuring proper labeling for identification.
- Rack Installation: Install and organize racks, including stacking equipment and securing devices in a neat and orderly manner.
- Punch Down: Punch down cables in an organized and professional manner to ensure system reliability.
Requirements:
- Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience in low-voltage installations and cabling.
- Tools: Must have all hand tools required for terminating Cat6 cables.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in pulling and terminating Cat6 and fiber optic cables.
- Ability to pull, splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cables.
- Ability to install and organize racks and stack equipment neatly.
- Skilled in testing and labeling cables for easy identification and troubleshooting.
- Experience in punching down cables with precision.
- Drug-Free: Must maintain a drug-free status.
- Professional Appearance: Must maintain a professional appearance and adhere to dress code standards.
- Safety: Must work safely and adhere to all safety guidelines.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and work from ladders and aerial lifts.
- Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to and from the project location.
- Travel: Willingness to travel is a bonus for potential work beyond this project.
