About Us
Poll Sound is the oldest continuously operating professional sound company in the world, beginning in 1924. We strive for audio perfection and deliver a personalized customer experience through a knowledgeable and friendly staff, utilizing leading-edge audio technology.
We have maintained excellence for over 100 years by ensuring that our staff has support and access to the highest standard of training to become experts leading with passion to create custom, top-of-the-line, fully integrated, AV systems.
About The Role
We’re hiring an Audio Visual Installation Technician to join our St. George Integration team. Think of this role as AV construction / low‑voltage installation: pulling cable, hanging and wiring gear, building racks, and helping bring full systems to life in the field. This is a great role for someone with construction, electrical, low‑voltage, or IT experience who wants to build a long‑term career in commercial AV. We’re willing to train the right person with the right attitude.
Job Duties
- Install commercial audio, video, and control systems in new construction and retrofit projects (churches, schools, performance spaces, and commercial buildings).
- Pull, label, and terminate low‑voltage cabling (speaker lines, network cabling, signal lines, control wiring).
- Mount and install devices: speakers, displays, projectors, cameras, microphones, wall plates, racks, and control panels.
- Assist with rack building, equipment layout, wire management, and system neatness/labeling to Poll Sound standards.
- Help with basic system configuration and testing (signal flow checks, gain structure, and basic DSP loading under supervision).
- Read and follow drawings, schematics, and construction plans with guidance from lead technicians and engineers.
- Work safely on lifts, ladders, and in active construction environments, following jobsite and company safety practices.
- Occasionally support service calls or small upgrades as needed once systems are installed.
Skills & Qualifications
- Excited to learn the AV integration trade and grow into a skilled technician.
- Experience in at least one of these areas is a plus (not required for the right individual):
- Low‑voltage cabling (data, security, telecom, fire alarm, or AV).
- Electrical/construction trades.
- IT/networking basics.
- Comfortable with hand and power tools, construction sites, and working at heights.
- Able to plan your work, stay organized, and finish tasks on time.
- Professional communication with coworkers, contractors, and customers.
- Self‑motivated, honest, and dependable.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Able to pass a drug screen and background check.
- Willing to work occasional overtime and some travel.
*We do not expect an applicant to have every preferred qualification. These are simply the skills that would help you jump into the role more quickly. We are committed to providing training to the right person.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry 50+ lbs at times.
- Stand, crouch, kneel, and climb ladders/lifts for extended periods.
- Work in ceilings, mechanical rooms, and other tight or awkward spaces typical of construction environments.
