WJHW, Inc is seeking a full-time summer intern to join our Acoustics & Noise Control department in Carrollton, TX. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to work with experienced consultants on projects involving room acoustics, noise isolation, and environmental noise. Interns will assist with project analysis, field measurements, and acoustical calculations while gaining practical experience in building acoustics. Ideal candidates will be enrolled in an engineering, architecture, mathematics, or physics degree program, possess knowledge of acoustic principles, and have experience with AutoCAD or BIM software.


RESPONSIBILITIES

WJHW is offering a full-time internship for our Acoustics & Noise Control department. The position includes hands-on work with acoustical consultants on a variety of project types. The applicant can expect to experience various topics including room acoustics, noise isolation, mechanical noise and vibration control, and environmental noise. Interns work closely with design staff to gain experience in the field of Building Acoustics and to help complete project analysis and documentation. Interns can expect to gain experience in drawing review, equipment operation, data analysis, and pertinent acoustic calculations (including reverberation time, down duct analysis, noise isolation, and/or other work based on project type and availability). We expect interns to join senior design staff on site observations and to conduct field measurements at project sites.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·      Enrollment in a degree program including engineering, architecture, mathematics, or physics

·      Knowledge in the physics of acoustics and relevant acoustic terminology

·      Experience with AutoCAD or BIM software(s)

·      Experience with Excel, MS Word, and Bluebeam

·      Ability to work collaboratively and independently

·      Candidates must be able to work full time (40 hours per week) in our Carrollton, TX office from June to August (WJHW is flexible and can accommodate schedule based on your University’s calendar)
