EMR Data Scientist - Healthcare Technology

Position

Pluto Health, Inc. is looking for an EMR Data Scientist with extensive experience in EMR data management, clinical and outcomes analytics, and EMR data quality assurance.  We are looking for someone with a proven track record in innovation and technical expertise, who additionally has strong clinical and EMR domain expertise as evidenced by the successful completion of clinical informatics-led enterprise projects and proficiency in internal EMR query languages, e.g. Cerner CCL.

Responsibilities

Take an active part in a complete software development life-cycle for the Pluto Health backend framework development.  Serve as a critical translational layer in between raw data extraction and the entry of said data into Pluto’s clinical purity and assurance pipeline. Assist leadership with product planning and roadmaps for relevant portions of the Pluto product suite.

• Work under the direction of Pluto Health’s Head of Medical Informatics on all things surrounding EMR data
• Final job title (i.e. seniority) to be determined at time of hire, commensurate with candidate’s experience and skillset
• Assure quality and correctness of clinical and analytics data across multiple EMR data models
• Develop and help oversee Pluto Health’s data and knowledge models
• Serve as an EMR data assurance and analytics expert liaison to Product, Engineering, and Data Science, providing guidance on appropriate data modeling and knowledge representation for clinical and analytics concepts
• Work with internal data source owners to ensure that we obtain and represent data at the right level to support various use cases
• Work in tandem with our Clinical, Data Sciences, and Interoperability teams to curate and harmonize clinical data
• Help normalize internal vocabularies to standard terminologies and classifications
• Help develop and maintain standard policies and procedures for data sciences work
• In tandem with the clinical team, help evaluate clinical content, technology and other solutions necessary to optimize clinical informatics function and business strategy
• In partnership with the clinical team, correlate disparate data sources to find actionable clinical results

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with at least 5 years of experience within a major healthcare system/IDN, with proof of successful completion of major enterprise-wide data analytics and assurance projects 
• Expertise and at least 5 years of experience with at least one internal EMR query language (e.g. Cerner CCL) required
• Specific knowledge of data normalization/denormalization, data transformation pipelines, and data analytics quality assurance required
• Formal experience with Computer Science a bonus, but not required
• Extensive GSuite (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides) experience required
• Strong management and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Advanced/expert knowledge of EHRs, healthcare interoperability platforms, clinical coding systems (ICD10CM, SNOMED-CT, LOINC, CPT, RxNorm, et cetera), and clinical quality measures (USPSTF, HEDIS, et cetera)
• Strong knowledge of clinical information systems, data management and administration
• Specific knowledge of HIPAA, 21st Century Cures, and HITECH/ARRA strongly preferred
• Strong verbal, written skills and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently as a member of a team

Location

Currently, Pluto Health, Inc. works virtually, with members located in the following cities:  Knoxville, TN; Raleigh, NC; Los Angeles, CA; Milwaukee, WI; Minneapolis, MN; Nashville, TN; Vancouver, BC (Canada). This position may work in-office (post-pandemic) or remote within North America.
