Founded in 2016, Pitney Meadows Community Farm is a 166-acre preserved working farm in the heart of Saratoga Springs. Our mission is to grow food, community, and connection, and to educate about the natural world right here on our conserved farm in the heart of Saratoga Springs. Position Description:

The Pitney Meadows Food For All Internship offers candidates an opportunity to

develop or build upon farming, community building, and volunteer engagement skills while fostering the sense of community and connection to our mission and the greater Farm. This position assists the Farm Management Team in all aspects of our Food For All initiatives, including Farm-to-Pantry produce distribution, CSA accessibility efforts, and on-farm volunteering.


Responsibilities:

● Support the Farm-to-Pantry program:

○ Assist with harvesting, washing, and packing crops for distribution

○ Assist with Wash/Pack area maintenance and record keeping

○ Coordinate with partners, volunteers, and participants

● Support Farm programs including Community Crew and other volunteer/public

events

● Support our CSA program:

○ Assist with communications, outreach, and weekly newsletters

○ Assist with the CSA is a SNAP and CSA scholarship programs

● Work with the Assistant Farm Manager for Food for All Programs to identify and

develop a relevant project of interest over the course of the internship. The intern

will present the final project and findings at a Board Meeting and/or public forum

later in the season – date to be determined.


Qualifications:

● Understanding and interest in the mission of Pitney Meadows Community

Farm.

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team with diverse groups of

people.

● Good written and interpersonal skills.

● Energetic and eager to learn.

● Focused time management skills, efficiency, and consistent attention to detail.

● Strong work ethic with a positive and motivated attitude in all weather conditions.

● Ability to perform moderately strenuous labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs and

standing for long periods of time.

● Knowledge and experience with farming and sustainable, organic growing

practices is preferred though not required.


Terms and Compensation:

This internship is a seasonal position spanning from mid May until early September. The intern is expected to work 20-25 hours per week, with the exact amount varying based on the projects agreed upon between the intern and manager. We ask that you be willing to work some weekends and be flexible with your availability in general, as hours may vary from week to week.


The intern will be compensated for their summer work with an hourly wage of

$15.50/hr and/or can be a for-credit internship.
