The account director is responsible for playing a key role in shaping high-level strategy alongside agency leadership. This role would also manage account leads to deliver exceptional results for our clients. The core responsibilities would include overseeing and executing brand communication campaigns, media relations, and managing day-to-day client activities. With a strategic overview of all account activity, this role serves as a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring seamless coordination and management of campaigns and projects. The account director and their team would manage a substantial volume of campaigns and projects.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Research:

  • Continually keep an eye on and share with the team research from clients and competitors, media outlets and contacts, PR + client industry trends, breakthroughs and innovations

Media lists/databases 

  • Maintain an expertise over the evolving media landscape and inform media list strategy
  • Holds, builds and maintains key media contacts

PR Writing 

  • Apply advanced writing skills and expertise of media landscape to guide direction of pitch angles
  • Provides final polishes and approvals for press materials and pitches 

Pitching

  • Customized outreach to top tier media as needed
  • Strategic oversight for all pitches going out the door
  • Proactively secure evergreen media opportunities on a monthly basis

Media Relations

  • Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with key media to increase client exposure
  • Identifying and fostering new media contacts on a regular basis

Gifting/Seeding

  • Oversight of sample fulfillment and media correspondence re: samples
  • Smooth out any snags (or provide guidance for doing so) whenever necessary
  • Ensure process is optimized to be as smooth and efficient as possible

Event Staffing

  • Oversee event staffing and on-site client & stakeholder relations

Results Tracking/Reporting

  • Oversight of tracking, ensuring key results are being captured
  • Oversight of production of client reports, providing direction on what each recap should entail
  • Guide team in presenting results in a way that shines performance in the best light

Campaign Planning/Strategy

  • Initiate and lead the development and presentation of written plans and proposals
  • Leads brainstorms as needed 
  • Guides team on strategy of key components
  • Provides final polishes and approvals all written plans

Account Management

  • Oversee overall account activity to ensure client goals are being met
  • Provides strategic guidance on all account activity

Account Oversight

  • Responsible for all account activity being executed in a strategic, timely and professional manner
  • Initiate the ideation and implementation of new programs and concepts that add value for clients
  • Maintains a bird's eye view over all account activity, ensuring all moving pieces ladder up to a larger strategic vision

Client Relations

  • Addresses client needs regarding tactics being directly implemented by entire account team
  • Fields client inquiries and requests, providing strategic direction from an industry and competitive perspective
  • Serves as clients' primary counsel on important account issues and strategic advisory 
  • Provides thought leadership for PR and client industry trends, best practices and innovations

Agency Leadership

  • Collaborate with leadership to improve culture, quality of work, address and identify issues and establish the effective processes
  • Mentorship and development of all team members 
  • Play a pivotal role in devising high level strategy, execution, and managing team members to drive maximal results

Business Development 

  • Drive business development efforts by researching prospective target accounts and pursuing new business leads
  • Spearhead the creation of new business proposals and presentations, including leading brainstorms, crafting the overarching strategy being proposed, and project management of getting the proposal done on time
  • Serve as an key member in client intake and discovery, building trust to be positioned as a trust client go-to from the onset


You might be a good fit if you have:

  • Unique personal style/fashion sense 
  • BA in Mass Communications, Public Relations, Digital Marketing or related field
  • 8+ years of PR experience
  • Excellent understanding of marketing and public relations execution 
  • Experience in client relations, serving as a client POC and providing strategic counsel
  • Experience working in a fast paced, high pressure PR environment
  • Experience managing and coaching managers/leads as well as junior staff 
  • Experience working across lifestyle B2C brands
  • Experience with business development, preferably in a lead role 
  • Background in social media content strategy and community management
  • Proficiency in Google Docs, Sheets and Slides 
  • Strong leadership skills
