Our drone-deployable line sensors wirelessly transmit environmental and line characteristics to an intuitive software tool to help utilities push more power through existing lines, prevent wildfires, and improve grid reliability. Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Flight Controls Engineer located in Boise, ID. This role  will be responsible for developing and improving drone control flight code.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee flight control development for drone platforms
  • Manage flight control dynamics model improvements
  • Flight Test data post-processing
  • Continual improvement in flight control models
  • Develop and implement wind-compensation flight control method
  • Develop and implement drone/power-line interactions flight control code
  • Manage flight test program for new controls developments
  • Oversee and manage flight control development on related/new drone platforms
  • Contribute to other aspects of drone and product research and development

Minimum Qualifications

  • M.S. in robotics, electrical, mechanical, or mechatronics engineering degrees, with emphasis on robotics and control.
  • Experience with simulink
  • Experience with PX4/Similar
  • Experience with robotic programming and software, e.g., ROS/ROS2.
  • Experience with version control software, e.g., git
  • Experience with aircraft/VTOL flight control development
  • Hands-on circuit board and wiring experience
  • Model based design experience
  • Flight test & controls refinement experience
