Key Responsibilities:


- Process payments and post claims in multiple formats (ERA, paper checks, credit cards, etc.)

- Understand and utilize reports (Insurance Paid Patient, Duplicate, and Modifier Reports) to minimize claim errors

- Handle all incoming and outgoing mail, including sorting and distributing it to other departments

- Ensure accurate verification of patient eligibility using insurance resources in collaboration with our Patient Care Coordinators

- Review and interpret Remittance Advices (RA), including allowable amounts, patient responsibility, denial codes, and remark codes to resolve denials, research outstanding balances, and escalate issues to supervisors

- Maintain accurate billing records, with clear, concise notes on patient accounts

- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries about account status and balances

- Foster a positive team environment through effective communication with colleagues and supervisors

- Take ownership of new and special requests, always looking for ways to add value to your role

- Follow company policies and procedures related to employment, safety, and compliance

Qualifications:


- High school diploma or equivalent

- Medical billing experience preferred (especially in outpatient physical therapy)

- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding

- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and billing software

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry

- Proficiency in Excel (intermediate level)

- Excellent communication and customer service skills

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team

Salary

$15 - $20 per hour
